Palcohol

.
Everything you need to know about Palcohol

1. Who created it? Mark Phillips. Click on the link above for information about Mark.

2. Why? Sometimes liquid isn't convenient. Because Palcohol is powder and very light, you can take it just about anywhere to enjoy a cocktail! That's why we say: "Take your Pal wherever you go." Please use it responsibly and legally. Don't consume Palcohol and drive.*

3. How strong is it? Palcohol when used as directed, by adding five ounces of liquid to it, is equal to a standard mixed drink.*

4. What's in it? It varies per version but basically, alcohol....and in the cocktail versions, natural flavorings and Sucralose as a sweetener. The ingredients of each version are listed on the front of the package. Palcohol is gluten free.

5. How is it made? If we told you, we'd have to shoot you. We are in the process of patenting it and it is currently patent pending.*

6. What flavors are there? We plan on releasing six versions sold in a pouch that is the equivalent to one shot of alcohol:*

V which is powder made from premium vodka distilled four times.
R which is powder made from premium Puerto Rican rum

V and R can be used two ways. One way is by adding five ounces of your favorite mixer to make a Rum and Coke, Vodka and Orange Juice, etc. Another option is adding five ounces of water to the powder and then adding a flavored drink powder to make it any flavor you want. The result is equivalent to one average mixed drink.*

The four cocktail versions are:

Cosmopolitan
Mojito
Powderita - tastes just like a Margarita
Lemon Drop

Just add water to these four flavors for an instant cocktail.*

7. Who owns Palcohol: Palcohol is owned by a privately held company called Lipsmark. There is no investment opportunities at this time nor do we plan on going public anytime soon.*

8. Are we looking for investors, distributors or employees? No, no and no but thanks for offering. For those people who want to sell it or buy it, please subscribe to our mailing list to receive that information down the road.*

9. Where will it be sold? Think of Palcohol as liquor....just in powder form. It will be sold anywhere where liquor can be sold and a buyer must be of legal drinking age to buy it. It will be available both in the United States and abroad and it can also be bought online.*

10. Can Palcohol be added to food? Beer, wine and spirits are often added to dishes to enhance the flavor. When you add Palcohol to food, you're not really adding flavor to the dish, just alcohol. As Palcohol is a new product, we have yet to explore its potential of being added to food.*As always, please use it responsibly. Because it adds alcohol to the dish, do not serve the dish to minors.*

11. Can I snort it? We have seen comments about goofballs wanting to snort it. Don't do it! It is not a responsible or smart way to use the product. To take precautions against this action, we've added volume to the powder so it would take more than a half of a cup of powder to get the equivalent of one drink up your nose. You would feel all pain for little gain. Just use it the right way.

12. When will it be available? We expect it to be for sale this fall. No samples will be released ahead of time.

And lastly, we want to emphasize again, when Palcohol is available, to use it responsibly and legally.

Ugh. Saw this on ***** today. So glad I'm no longer living with an active alcoholic. Also seems really dangerous. Like couldn't an A snort this or ingest it in some way not recommended by the manufacturer and get alcohol poisoning? Even for someone with a really high tolerance this could be catastrophic.

makes me ponder a powdered form of co-dependency....in a handy foil package that is easily carried in your wallet or purse.....just in case there isn't enough control, chaos, or drama in certain situations, we could whip it out, rip it open, and snort it real quick for instant relief of our insecurities, need to please disease, or whatever we see fit to use it for.

Is this for real? I'm have flashbacks to the time my druggie ex de facto started to graduate to amphetamines from dope, and thought that seeing as how I was really anti-dope smoking, perhaps I would be okay with speed in a glass of water. I never accepted a drink from him after that, and left a few months later.

I can't see any way this powdered alcohol could be misused /sarcasm

Empty two or three shots into one glass of water and then deny having more than one drink... "you saw, it was only one glass!"

Yikes.

There are so many things wrong with this IMO that I can't even wrap my head around it. It seems like a product targeted specifically at alcoholics... I mean, under what circumstances does a normal drinker want a drink badly enough to settle for this substitute? ... If it's a situation where alcohol isn't appropriate a normal drinker just doesn't drink, right? Am I being naive? I also wonder at the potential for teens and young adults to abuse the heck out of it.

I guess this could be handy when traveling if you didn't want to travel with liquid or pay huge mark ups on alcohol, but still, this seems like an odd product. I bet it tastes gross. IMO, this isn't aiding alcoholism. If an alcoholic wants to drink then a powdered form of alcohol isn't going to make it any easier. Ask the other side of this forum how many alcoholics have guzzled vodka out of a water bottle thinking noone would ever know that it isn't water.

maybe next someone can come up with a slow release booze suppository. This is stupid. It really seems more like a gimmick to me than something anyone would regularly buy. Except maybe an A who will appreciate the ease of hiding it.

Hope an open packet violates an open container law the same as an open liquid beverage container does.

Oh, my STBXAH?

My favorite was realizing that the large, lovely bottle of vanilla I brought home from Mexico was calling him. If they're going to drink, there's not much stopping them. Alcohol is everywhere.

That said, as a parent of a teenager, I increasingly worry about my ability to keep up with all the ways kids get high in order to parent him responsibly. Powdered alcohol is a nightmare.

I just added this to another post on here about this subject

Powdered Alcohol Has Arrived
04/21/14 11:46 AM ET
Talk about a powder keg.

Palcohol may soon be at a liquor store near you. The product was recently approved for consumption by the Federal Government, which means society could well be on its way to snorting itself into oblivion. But that's NOT HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE USED, PEOPLE.

From the company's site:

We have seen comments about goofballs wanting to snort it. Don't do it! It is not a responsible or smart way to use the product. To take precautions against this action, we've added volume to the powder so it would take more than a half of a cup of powder to get the equivalent of one drink up your nose. You would feel a lot of pain for very little gain. Just use it the right way.
Palcohol, which is used by adding water to a powder packet, also seems to have been caught with its e-pants down because SB Nation, Gawker and other sites found verbiage used on the company's now-changed homepage that seemed to advertise the product as a solution to the hassle of trying to sneak booze into venues.

"What's worse than going to a concert, sporting event, etc. and having to pay $10, $15, $20 for a mixed drink with tax and tip. Are you kidding me?!" the text read. "Take Palcohol into the venue and enjoy a mixed drink for a fraction of the cost."

A new preamble on the site's homepage now states:

There was a page visible on this site where we were experimenting with some humorous and edgy verbiage about Palcohol. It was not meant to be our final presentation of Palcohol ... Many media outlets copied some of that old verbiage about taking Palcohol into venues to avoid high drink prices. But what they didn't include in their stories is that we mentioned on that same page, that you should check with the stadiums first to make sure they allow it.
At any rate, Gawker thinks this stuff could be dangerous:

It's hard to imagine how or why the federal government signed off on Palcohol, a product that, in the wrong hands, could make the darkest days of the Four Loko era look tame.
But the company, which also says its product can be sprinkled on food (vodka eggs, anyone?) insists that, when used as directed, Palcohol has as much alcohol as a regular mix drink.

From TIMR apr 22 "The federal government admitted Monday that its recent approval of Palcohol—a powdered alcohol which turns water into vodka and rum—was actually done in “error.”
Even so, it may well still be approved in due course. What scares me is that it could be sprinkled on or included in food products clandestinely - either by 'well meaning' party givers or manufacturers wanting to give consumers of their product a 'lift'.
We could find ourselves in a situation where we are consuming alcohol without even knowing it.
I find this prospect frightening and unacceptable.

This guy is going to get as rich as the guy that created those 5 hour energy drinks, and he's drowning in money.
I don't want to even start naming the places that one could ingest this secretly, many of them very wrong to be drinking in.
How are they going to check for this on planes?????
Alcohol is combustible!

Holy crap, that's sort of like advertising delivery service alcohol for drunks who can't make it to the bar, isn't it?
