Ugh. I have one picture in one album that I want to use as a background for my profile. I've copied and pasted both codes (not at the same time) and I keep getting an error. What do I need to do to get my one image as the background?

You need to create an album and check the box next to "Profile - Pictures used to modify your profile style". Then use images from that album to customize your profile.
