quotes

i have noticed that others are able to quote parts of a members post.

quoting certain parts of the text........becoming highted boxes.

i dont seem to be able to do that ....i highlight the chosen paragraph...click quote and it quotes it all?

any ideas....something easy im not doing.?......thanks in advance...shaun

if you use the blue quote button you'll always get the whole post, no matter whether you highlight or not...

I just copy and paste what I want to quote into my reply, then use the speech bubble icon in the reply post toolbar to wrap the [quote] tags around it

does that make sense? LOL

for this one below I cut and pasted the text, highlighted it and used the PHP tags icon

but I still don't get the username until I type it in the names aka shown above with:

the PHP code allows me to show examples of BB code without activating the BB code to show up in a post as below.

So you can cut and past, then highlight the text, then hit the (wrapping the text in BB code, in this case the QUOTE tag) button, then add the equals symbol after the word: QUOTE, then the name. As shown at the top of this post by me using the PHP code to illustrate the example I'm talking about.
