Please could somebody tell me how "quoting" is done.
What do I click on, and how do I seperate bits of a quote.

Eternally grateful for any help!

You can either click on the quote button and quote the entire post or copy and paste text and highlight it and click on the quote button in the editor When the text is highlighted and you click on the button it will put the quote tags in for you.

Feel free to practice here.

Picard steps forward announcing to every living creature within the sound of his voice, "there can be no justice so long as laws are absolute." and that "life itself is an exercise in exceptions." Riker adds, "When has justice ever been as simple as a rulebook?"

You'd think after 800 + posts I'd know how to quote. Have I think once...but got lucky doin it. Glad this question was asked. How do I quote some text like I did above, and still have it say who it's originally from? I'll play around some more.

You have to do the whole thing to have it say who it's from right?

Adding the name is trickier - you either have to quote the whole post with the quote button or add it in manually like this (no spaces before or after the = ):

[QUOTE = some guy called Dee][/QUOTE]

This is how you include a quote within a quote?

it's all about the [ QUOTE][/QUOTE] tags - you can quote the whole thing in tags, and then 'quote' something inside those tags as well

You explain things well! I think in this case it's the student. Think I got it enough for me to use it though.
