| What Exactly Does this Mean If you are having trouble replying to posts please try clicking the post reply button instead of using quick reply. It might solve the problem for now.Click Here for more help SHHHHH!! Think it over before inviting a friend to the forums. Telling others about this site can destroy your ability to speak freely here! Could a moderator or somebody in the know, explain this rather cryptic message. |

| I don't think the two sentences are related. I can kind of understand the SHHHHHHH comment. If you invite a friend, you do lose some anonimity and might not say something you'd ordinarily say if someone who knew you personally were here. |

1 - Some folks with some browsers have trouble using the "quick reply". It doesn't work for them. However, the "post reply" works for everybody. 2 - The "click here for more help" was supposed to be a link to a longer explanation, but the link is broken. 3 - In most recovery groups there are clear rules about anonymity and about not sharing what was said in the room, or in therapy. That doesn't work on the internet because the whole world can see what's written in Sober Recovery. That's why we tell people not to post their names, phone numbers, etc. as that would blow your anonymity. That is also why tell people to be very careful about who they trust with their "nickname" or "sign-on". In real life you can invite a friend to a meeting, and if that friend shares your participation in the meet with other people, you may have lost your anonymity, but you still have your confidentiality cuz those other people will _not_ go to your meeting. On the internet, once you share you "nickname" with a friend, and that friend shares it with other, then the whole world will know what you wrote and all your confidentiality is lost. Am I making sense? Mike | |
