When I first saw the little lock I was wondering what could be so controversial about a diet and exercise thread LOL I completely forgot about the 25 pages maximum.

Thanks for the new thread Opi. Just posting to make sure I got it bookmarked

Good morning all,

I hear you on the dead lifts Upstairs. Although tempting, I don't do them anymore all due to back issue. Another 'staple' I've had to forego are flat bench press due to left shoulder. Definitely don't want to do more harm than good, so I substitute as best I can.

No gym time again today as I'm nursing a wretched cold.....although my wife may laugh and say it's a 'man cold'. Either way I've been dehydrated and will devote today to water consumption. Back at it tomorrow is the plan.

Wishing each of you the best day.

Workout done! Last week I had to pump myself up to workout but this week I find I look forward to it. Feeling good feels good.

Work has been slow, I'm PT and they've stopped extending me to fulltime hours, which is kind of nice because I have more time to play my guitar and garden and exercise..... but $$$$..... Anyways I got a new opportunity today with a little side business that I do very occasionally mostly because I'm lazy and have to go out and drum up my own business with it. It's a sweet contract that will save my summer! Yay!

Feel better soon Mark and congrats Zen on your new business opportunity.

I ran a couple of miles in my new running shoes to break them and start acclimating my body to more consistent running.

good afternoon. Today started with a three mile dog walk. I also got in an hour on a stationery bike and lifted some weights. Push-ups and sit-ups ups too.

I hope you all have/had a good day. Man colds are tough Mark. Bee there. Get better soon.

Hi today is a fast day.
I downloaded the Myfast app and I really like it, it makes keeping track of my days and time really easy.
Since I am also trying to cut on carbs I was thinking of getting a diet diary. I downloaded Myfitnesspal but it was a bummer. Absolutely not IF friendly, when I tried to log in zero on a fast day I got a pop up with a bloody lecture!!!

Mark, hope you feel better too.

Carlotta, I use an old fashioned pocketbook-type calendar to log in my food and exercise. I think the only apps I have on my phone are the ones that came with it.

I gotta get with technology! I work with young people so I'm going to ask one of them to help me get the app that allows video chat between two people. I'm sponsoring someone long distance and we'll need that app for the 5th step.

Anyhoo--biked in today (only 2.5 miles flat ride); upper body weights at 11am. My goal for Road to Summer was/is to wear a two-piece bathing suit in Mexico in July. I could probably do it now but we are definitely not having swim suit weather!

Don't want to get graphic here but from the front I'm a knock-out but from the back--not so much unless someone is just looking at my back and shoulders. All the squats and lunges in the world aren't going to erase the damage my food addiction caused. I've even had liposuction--it helped but did not magically cure all the cellulite.

Too much information? (smile) I am grateful to be sober, healthy and in good shape overall.

Hola all! I'll be working out my arms today followed by forty minutes on the rower and bike. It seems my post yesterday got itself annihilated or something. I think it was me griping about the cold and rain. And pull ups. Have a great and sober weekend everyone!

Today I got my bicycle ride in. Some of the area farmers are starting to spread manure on there fields. Ahhhh, the smells of spring. If you've never seen a manure spreader at work you don't know what your missing. It's a sight to behold.

Carlotta, I used the my fitness pal app a few years ago. I can see why it wouldn't be compatible with fasting.

Today is a non fast day. I am going to Safeway, for some reason I crave a giant tomato salad and it can't be because of vitamin deficiency because I take my vitamins and supplements religiously.

I walked about five miles today and accomplished some errands while doing so.

That's funny jsm......around here it's the spreading of chicken poo collected when the poultry farms clear out between grown birds and new chicks. The farmers covet that stuff and call it 'black gold'. When freshly spread in our humidity it will make one's eyes burn!

GC, it seems you are fantastic with efficient use of your time.

Congrats on the extra work coming your way Zen.

Ringo! A Mexican holiday sounds great. I love/need to have travels in my life and have done so since claiming sobriety. And I'll admit that I care about how I look in my trunks when we're beaching!

Today was about a 60% effort in the gym. I think that after today I'll be over the worst of man cold. That's my plan anyway.

Hey fit sober people! I did my workout today but my heart wasn't in it...... I'm just so tired from getting up at 4 everyday. Really looking forward to not waking up to the alarm tomorrow morning! I ate this amazing deep dish pizza from a local restaurant, so good, and way too many calories lol but worth every bite. I'm trying to follow the 80-20 rule, eat good 80% but gotta indulge for 20%.

More rain this weekend..... I can feel it coming in my knees haha. Hope everyone has a good Friday evening.

Oh yeah I wanted to mention that I use SparkPeople for food and exercise tracking. They have an app you can download and it's very user friendly.

10 hours of sleep later...... ahhhhh so good to wake up naturally and hangover free! No exercise for me today, it's going to be a rest day. I'm picking up my sister and going up north to take our mom out for lunch and then we will visit our grandmother who's not doing well in the hospital. After that I'm going to the marina where my boat has just gone in the water! No boat trip today since it's supposed to rain but it will still be nice to look at my boat and I'll have to give them some money.

Thanks Mark.

Zen, enjoy your time with your mother and grandmother.

I used good portion control at the book club meeting as well as during the entire day and I managed to gain over 3 pounds. I'm confident it will come off quickly, but I did a double take this morning while standing on the scale.

My wife and I were at the gym this morning for about 60 minutes.
