Just saying Hi :)

Hey everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself and say that I am SO glad to have found you all. I have been running on and off for a few years, and really want to run the Gold Coast Marathon next July after a failed attempt last year.

I find that I need to be working on 'a goal' or training for a particular race or I just dont have the motivation to run. period. I ran a Half Marathon 2 years ago and Im hoping that Marathon training will keep me on the straight and narrow.. (sober)..

Looking forward to reading your posts

Maz

That is exactly what I do. I used to run 20 some years ago but my knees did not like to participate. I ride a bike now.

I'm signed up to do a century ride in mid February and one at the end of March. This way I am not just "riding" my bike but "training" for an event. Doing a 100 miler for me is no big thing, but all the long training rides leading up to it keep me physically, mentally and spiritually in a nice groove. Welcome to SR.

I also need targets to motivate myself when I am cycling - currently I am doing 14 miles a day and am aiming to improve my time each week.

In Jan I am re-joining the gym and will be training with my friend, so that will motivate me as I will refuse to let him lift more that me

I am jealous that you live in the Gold Coast area - I had a great time there when I was back packing
