Hello :) I am starting a training program (running) this week and want to put together a kick-butt playlist. I like to work out to music from bands such as Nickelback, Breaking Benjamin and Seether...would love to hear what you all are listening to on your iPods / MP3 players! :)

Good Morning :) I like Linkin Park too! :) Staind...and older groups like Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots. I just dabble in the heavy stuff...Seether, Metallica...enough to light the fire! LOL I can't do too heavy, angry, or loud...Would you mind giving me an example of some songs that you find are good for running (by the bands that you mentioned)? Even with the groups I listed, I only like a few for working out, you know?

Just found this thread, although I'm on old dude I'm into alternative rock, the same stations I listened to in college basically. All of these songs are rated as 5 star in my iPod. Dreaming of You - War Tapes Panic Switch - Silversun Pickups All I Want - Staind California on my mind - Wildlight Ah La LA - Takeover UK You can also find a lot of good stations under the "radio" section of iTunes. |

Hey Zebra! I'm so glad you responded to this thread cause I would have forgotten to take my iPod with me on vacation! That would have been HORRIBLE since I plan on starting my training program this week! :O I still need to put my running mix together...UGH. Off to say HELLO to all our August buddies now! :) (waves)

Well, I'm a metal-head, and I truly love classic hard rock and classic metal from the 70's and 80's. I won't bore you with my musical opinions, but if you like energetic music while running, there is one absolute song that you need: "The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner" by Iron Maiden. If you like that song, get the album "Somewhere in Time". If you like the album, get ALL of their albums, especially their first 7. This is my favorite band/artist of all time, and I listen to all types of music, from classic rock to metal to hip-hop (the real hip-hop, not this garbage crap you hear on the radio since 2000). I could name a lot more artists that I listen to while weightlifting or running, but I'll just start with that. I hope you enjoy it; if not, then I hope you find other forms of music to inspire your routines. Happy workouts. |

Hi - I'm not into the bands you mentioned -- sorta an old fart! However, I ran for years and now with old age an injuries - I spin, walk ,etc. I have a collection of fast moving songs on my IPod that will get you moving quickly - many , but I will list a few that you can download. Tick Tock - Gen Steffani, Just Dance - Lady Gaga, Let's Get the PArty Started - Pink, Born To Be Wild - Steppenwolf, Cream - Prince, Hey Mickey - Bangles, Nut Bush City Limits - Tina Turner, Shinny Disco Balls - Who Da Funk, Everybody Dance Now - Black Box, Time Warp - Rock Horror, Mercy - Duffy, She's So Cold - Rolling Stones Happy Running! |

I only play the heaviest and hardest heavy metal while I'm training. Amon Amarth, Wulfgar, Slayer,Death, Kreator, just to name a few. Also for some reason when I deadlift I like to play the Conan the Barbarian soundtrack and put Anvil of Crom on the repeat shuffle. Really gets me psyched! |

I like to listen to rap when I workout, thats the only time I listen to it. It has a great beat for working out. Here is a basic guideline of which tempos are good for different workouts: •Under 100 BPM: Slower paced workouts and during warm ups and cool downs •100 to 130 BPM: Walking and portions of your workout that are a little faster paced •Over 130 BPM: Higher impact exercise and cardio •135 to 140 BPM: Power walking •135 to 155 BPM: Jogging •150 to 175 BPM: Running •Over 175 BPM: Fast running and sprinting |
