| I got nothin' | Exercise Log
Since I'm doing this for the mental side of things, I might as well do this for exercise, too. Maybe if I make myself more accountable I'll actually lose weight/get in shape. I went for a 2 hour walk this morning (about 4-5 miles). It was hard for the first 20 minutes (I'm getting over a nasty cold...I was having trouble breathing). After a while I felt like I could breathe and the walk was invigorating. I’m a little tired right now (because I’m fat and out of shape ), but I still feel pretty good. I need to remain calm and carry this feeling with me today. A good goal for me to set would be to do this kind of walk at least every other day. The only exception would be when I’m sick or having my monthly problem (sorry, guys) because my stomach gets way too messed up during that time and I have to be close to a toilet (I know, too much info). I’ll see how this goes for a while. I can adjust my goal to something more challenging down the road.

Walking is a great way to start, it actaully will burn more fat than running if you can get your heart rate into the 65-75% range. Remember to warm up and warm down. I like to do it first up on a empty stomach (maybe just a coffee), for me cardio is more effect that way, I seem to burn the fat easier

![]() I did walk on an empty stomach this morning (except for a glass of water). I find that I have better luck if I do that...otherwise I might get sick.

The only goals I really have are to keep doing what I'm doing now and never bog down. Eventually that will become difficult, but for the next 10 to 15 years I figure it's feasible. I've been posting in the "our goals" thread, very nice, mostly guys, great pics. (That's for you, Phal!) If you have a goal for losing weight or just to keep up the every other day walking you could probably post in the two threads, and feel even more incited to keep it up. So that's what I'll do too, in your thread. Today I jogged with the dog,4 kilometers, went to my stretching class, started cleaning the pool (that's hard work, we don't have the automatic pool sweep) I'll try to get out and pull a few weeds in the garden as I water, but it's also really hot today (yes, I'm a wuss) and this evening I'm off for line dancing lessons! If I do it all I'll be pleased with myself, a good day but I should have jogged more....ah, who cares, the dog didn't notice. |

Did that walk again this morning...even jogged a couple of steps here and there (down the hills). I'm going to try to watch what it is I eat, but I'm going to focus more on the exercise side of things. Once I get settled in, I'll really tweak the food. Baby steps.

| That's the best way to start out with exercising! When I started jogging, I did like you I walked until it was downhill, then jogged, then pushed myself a bit more each time. Count your jogging steps then add 20 a day every day. But if you have an i-pod it might be tough counting, I count because I don't have any music in my ears.

Today I forgot to do my stretching, it's probably the most important thing for me to do too, because I hate it! Darn, I doubt if I'll do a double session tomorrow to catch up too, but tomorrow at least the watering system should be working instead of spraying cascades of water as I come home from jogging.... Today was a busy day, without stretching tho, went jogging, fixed the watering system, did some shopping, swept the pool again for an hour,(I hate it when we first take the cover off after winter, the bottom just never gets clean, it takes days of sweeping! at least I have a tan now)Spent four hours gardening, and this evening from 9 til 1 I should be off dancing. Still off the obvious sweets, but still mad at myself for forgetting to stretch! |

Short walk today...only about an hour. I started feeling sick, so I turned back. A few miles is better than nothing. I need to get appropriate clothes to walk in. I hope I can find a pair of pants and a couple of shorts today. Jeans are way too hot to walk in. Do they even make active wear for larger people? If I can't find anything today I'm going to be mad.

I was in a bad mood so I went out walking to take some pictures. It made me feel better, but I pulled something/hurt something in my foot. I am so stubborn...I have energy and I want to do things, but my body isn't used to it...plus I am heavy and my knees and feet don't like me very much right now. I'm mad at myself because I am stubborn and impatient. I want instant results (I know that's not possible). I need to slow it down and stick to the every other day plan instead of trying for every day. Once I lose some weight/get used to it I should be fine. I did stretch this morning before I went and I knew something was up with my foot then. I shouldn't have done anything today. Yes, I am mad at myself.

You'll find clothes for walking, no problem. You don't really need anything special, just something you're confortable in. What's most important are the shoes. Except that you're feeling sick, which isn't good I agree, you should be feeling instant results, you won't see them of course, but you should be feeling better. Getting out at least a half an hour a day, makes a big difference in your mood.

Well, I won't be walking for a while. I have a bruise below my ankle. I'll let you folks know when it feels good enough to walk. I didn't go shopping yesterday...I didn't do much of anything. I have a lot of energy right now...this sucks.

9 miles, ate the same old blah stuff. If I wasn't so lazy I'd figure out how many calories, phal, be my nutritionist!! Bam, you live in a good place to swim? When I first started moving again I walked, but then I discovered a pool and oo la la what fun!

Me in a bathing suit? Now there's a scary thought. ![]() My foot feels better, but my calf muscle is cramped up because I've been walking goofy. I'm hoping a couple more days (I'm being optimistic) and then I'll be able to start walking again (more carefully and I won't overdo it...hehe)...Happy exercising everyone.

Meh, the thing is, no one who matters is looking. I was a BIG woman when I started, and Im still old haha. Id go to a pretty packed gym to swim where there were windows all around the pool. Every now and then I would get a chuckle that all of the 20 year old hard bodies were hoping my flailing didn't turn into full blown drowning so they wouldn't have to jump in and save me, but most of the time the 5 year old mermaid in me was just tickled to be swimming. I worked up to a mile a day, which is like a bazillion laps, but mostly I just had fun! Glad to hear the foot is healed=)
