People in recovery who are determined to stay clean would do well to stay away from sugar, artificial sweeteners, white flour, high fructose corn syrup(HFCS), and known GMO foods. I believe that people who are chronic relapsers do not address the known connection of sugar imbalance in addiction. Here is an excellent link that discusses this connection link

People worry about health insurance and health care and the cost. Yet do nothing about the cause of poor health. The biggest preventable cause of poor health is diet.

HFCS is in so many processed foods. Most HFCS is made with GMO corn. It is not known what the long term effect on the human body is that consumes this toxic substance because it has not been studied. What is known is that there is an increase in the occurance in food related alergies and a weakening of immune systems speciffically in children and the whole population in general since HFCS has been added to so many foods. Can anybody say :wtf2. If it does not make you mad as hell you are not paying attention.

If you and your family have addiction problems you would do well by your children to address this and make sure your children do not over consume any processed sweeteners they do not need it at all. They don't need honey either.

We need complex carbohydrates that thur the breaking down process the body makes it's own DNA brand of sugar. Don't be apathetic about this very important issue please it could help save our next generation a world of pain.

Every day I write letters to companies that make foods and consumables. I have found out things like toothpaste has apartame in it. A brand that I trusted: "Arm and Hammer" puts this very toxic substance in their toothpaste. I am so alergic to this stuff that I could die from it and they do not even have to put the aspartame symbol on the front of the label anymore. I found out about it one morning while brushing my teeth. I usually don't buy tooth paste but I was out of town and I brought a travel size A&H toothpaste. I started having chest pains while brushing my teeth! Because I now know what aspatame does to me I knew it had to be the toothpaste. Here is another an article on the dangers of aspartame

The only way to stop this abuse by food producers is to stop buying it hit them in the wallet where it hurts.

Soda, gum, candy, crackers, cakes, prepagaged dinners, chips, junk food, ect ect read labels especially if you have children. PLEASE!!!

Hi there

I'm coming up for 11 months without drink... and my life has just been transformed in every way for which I am thankful.

Whilst drinking i would always have carried about 2-3 stone too much in weight... which kinda made me a slightly chubby 6 foot male... but definitely with a beer gut

Since stopping i've not really changed much in my diet - that is i've not calory controlled in any way - and I have lost around 10lbs in the first 10 months (i.e. pretty slow)

Lately though in the last month I have lost weight much more quickly - to the point where people have really noticed... maybe 4-5lbs in a month...

OK - the theory... I've been reading about how the liver is responsible for metabolism of fat. I wondered if my liver has only just recovered now from my drinking years and started doing its job - and that is why I've suddenly started dropping the extra weight...

Therefore, is there always a delay in the weight benefits of stopping drinking - and is this something that is well known in recovery circles?

Thanks

Ok so over that last month I have noticed I have gained 10 pounds. Now my daily diet has remained the same 361.6 grams of carbohydrates, 95.5 grams of fat, and 144.7 grams of protein per day for 2893.1 calories. Now going by last months workout log I showed a 7% increase in tricep press, 10% in hip abductions, 40% in shoulder press and 10% in chest press. This by far is the greatest increase I have seen in one month. I am assuming that with the increase in weights that this is mostly muscle but I am unsure without taking an accurate BMI. I am wondering if anyone else has seen gains like this?

I have M.E. also known as Chronic Fatigue syndrome and am joining a gym today. I can only do a little because if I push too hard it makes the M.E. worse. I will be warming up on a bike then I want to do something for the upper body, some crunches and then finish on the cross-trainer.

For the upper body exercises I want to use a maximum of 2-3 machines that will exercise the most muscles, the opposite of isolating muscles.

Can anyone suggest 2-3 machines that will exercise the most muscles in the chest, back, arms and shoulders please?

I'm finally clean from 1,000 tries. The benzo withdrawal was the worst. My liver is so bad that even when I eat healthy foods, my liver flares up.

About 8 years ago, already with a bad liver, I continued to drink and got so swollen that I had to hold it up with my 2 hands, couldn't walk, had pain whenever I would twist my hips or carry something heavy but continued to punish my liver by drinking.

At one time , it got better but didn't stop me, actually my addction grew stronger with benzodiaipines/crack and alcohol all mixed together for another 4 years.

Can you believe this, I went to the doctor and they didn't find anything.

As I'm wrtitng now, it's swollen, it's uncomfortable but I'm so use to it. I know for a fact my liver is somewhat scarred. Would that scar eventually heal from years and years of punishment? My poor liver.:cries:

It's time to honor my body.:c011:
