| Hi All...
I know it seems I haven't been around much. I have been in and out checking on things and reading, not posting much. Nothing new really around here except that I have been working so much during my day that I have been so tired when I come home. I check in here and then go take a nap. Latey it has been hard to sleep at night....so very hot that I just wake up all night long. With that and the heat, I have been just so wiped out. I have been getting in the swimming though, at least 5 days out of the week. So I figure that is pretty good. Finances at tight so eating is cheap...and cheap food isn't usually the best. Eating healthy is expensive....that is no excuse...it is a fact. I go to the store with my mom who has to eat specific healthy foods...basically friuts and veg.s very little meat and other stuff and her food bill is high. And we shop around too. How stores can get away with charging so much for a piece of fuit is just beyond me. Even just eating salads, which my mom eats alot of, can cost too. geez !! How many of you find this to be true, or maybe this is a CA problem. This state inflation is becoming so very rediculous.....so much so that average people can't live properly here. And then they wonder why we have an obesity problem. I mean they finally figured out that the lunch they were feeding the kids in school was junk, so they made available healthier lunches.....to those who pay for it. On the elementary level all the lunches are the same, but in the middle school level they have one basic lunch for the day which is what the kids that are on the free lunch program get or if you buy (pay for it) you can choose the other choices that are available. I beleive it is the same on the high school level. Low income to no income families end up with garbage food. And the WICK program.... why is it that they don't provide for fruits and veg's along with the milk, eggs, and cheese. If they started kids out sooner on that stuff maybe they would learn healthier habits earlier. I know, I sound like I am up on my soap box again. I guess because I just went to the store yesterday only to realize that I am stuck buying certain things just to survive never mind loosing weight. I did try to stay away from any extras...the ones that I shouldn't have....lol

Hi Pony, I'm just now seeing your post. I do know that it's very upsetting to have things cost so much now that we can't even begin to make ends meet if we are normal hard working people. The gas and the groceries are out of this world. We can only do what we can do to stay as healthy as we can under the circumstances. Just keep on making the healthiest choices that you can for you and don't compulsively overeat and you'll be alright. The swimming five days a week is so amazing. All of that exercise, fresh air and sunshine is bound to be making you feel so much healthier. That's supposed to be the best kind of exercise in about every way, except for people like me who need to also do weight bearing exercise because of loss of bone density. I need to do both kinds. Keep up the good work Pony. ((((((HUGS))))))

Thanks Nina for the support. The swimming has been good, but lately in the past two weeks, which is something I forgot to mention earlier, I have been having trouble with my asthma also. This high temps are not good for those with lung conditions, but I have been doing as much as I can. I have been swimming but keeping it a little low key. Still keeping up a constant movement while in the water, just not pushing as hard as I have been. Some is better than none...for me.

Yes Pony, I also feel that some is alot better than none. I have been doing the none, where exercise is concerned the last couple of weeks and boy can I tell a negative difference in myself where that is concerned. I'm feeling amazingly better physically since I've been abstinent from sugar, aspertame, sodas and compulsive overeating, but I can tell that I'm not getting any exercise because my circulation is a bit more sluggish than when I do and I move better and have more energy, even if I just walk for the 20 min. a day. I'm sorry that you're asthma is acting up, but I'm so impressed that you have hung in there and continued to try to get some exercise rather than just deciding that it's too hard right now. Keep up the good work and you'll be glad that you did, healthwise. ((((((((((((Proud Hugs)))))))))))

Hey Pony, You ever try those Lean Cuisine meals? Ralphs always puts them onsale for $2.00, they aren't bad. Also have you ever tried www.cutouthunger.com? I've gone there for years, haven't spent more than a quarter on toothbrushes, toothpaste, condiments, etc. etc. etc..... My roommate gets close to $4000.00 in free (or next to nothing), stuff every year and donates it to shelters.
