I always have fresh squeezed juice...or a smoothie for breakfast. It helps fill me up and makes me feel energized. You can have nuts with it or granola. I also have been taking wheatgrass shots (see if there is a juice bar in your town that sells them). One ounce equals 2.5 pounds of vegetables in vitamins and minerals. It gives you great energy and you don't feel like you need a big breakfast. The best way to satisfy those cravings is to go ahead and eat...but eat something that is good for you. Like fruits and vegetables, nuts and grains. We made some awesome stir fry the other night. We are trying to re-think the way we eat. We both love food and need the satisfaction that food brings. So we are looking up ways to prepare those foods that are better for us so they taste good. Make a lifestyle change instead of trying to go on a diet. Try as much as you can to get those vegetables. Fruits are easier...cause smoothies are so good. I love having a baked potato with avacado on it and chopped up cucumber. My husband made a paste out of roasted (baked) red pepper. Just put it in the blender and add some sun dried tomatoes and spices...it makes a good spread instead of butter. It takes a bit of effort to initially change. I got a few books to help motivate me and educate me. And it's hard cause everything around us is unhealthy. But you get to a point where you know this is the only thing you can do that makes sense. Dieting and then binging after dieting was definatly not working. Well, those are my ideas. As you can see we are really excited about our new way of eating. Mainly cause all the food tastes soo good and we don't feel like we are depriving ourselves. I hope some of this helps. |

Shana, Protein in the morning is extremely important. One morning a few years ago, I ate only a piece of toast for breakfast. After a little while I started feeling very strange and I had to lay down. I started feeling gradually like I was going unconscious, so I called the Dr. to see what they thought was happening to me and she said, "Didn't you know that it's in your Medical Record that you have Hypoglycemia?" (low blood sugar) She said that toast is carbohydrates and that I needed to always eat some sort of protein for breakfast or my sugar level would drop and I would feel sick like that. It was horrible and I've eaten protein in my breakfast ever since. It makes a world of difference.

I like the Kashi Whole Wheat (frozen) waffles..They are not too caloric and they have protein as well. I eat lots of Kashi cereal and Kashi bars cuz they add protein as well. English muffin and an egg Banana Bread flavored Oatmeal by Quaker Oats (fiber and protein added) English muffin and a little pnut butter yogurt and fruit
