Yvonne, I've never posted in this forum, but I do know what it's like to be overweight and feeling helpless. I am currently modifying my diet and trying to add more activity. I have a severely crunched back that I am recovering from spinal fusion surgery gone awry, which is impeding my weight loss. You know what I find is fun for excersize since I can barely walk without pain? I get up, put on a CD that gets me wanting to move, and I dance around the best I can for as long as I can tolerate it. It's not much, but it's better than absolutely nothing. Facing your fears is the first step to recovery of any sort. Good luck, and welcome to SR.

Pretty much Yvonne, we are all human of course and have our failings which is why we are all here I guess!! Please don't worry if you don't get answers straight away, some boards are busier than others; and of course the time differences add to that. Hope you check out some of the other boards too, there's lots of good stuff that can apply to any of life's problems.

Yvonne, I am so glad you came hear to join us. I read your other post and you touched my heart. You see I, too, have endured the teasing, comments, and ignorant opinions of others at my expense. I have been over weight most of my life, pretty much started in my teen years. I currantly live with a man that is the father of my child (we are not married) but can't stand to look at me and feels very embarrassed to be seen with or associated with me in any way. so much so that when we go to my daughter's soccer practices and games he sits away from me and never says two words to me the whole time we are there. We go in sepate cars ..... did I mention that we live together..!!! Anyway, just wanted you to know that I understand. Lets talk if you would like to. I am here!

Welcome Yvonne So glad you found your way here from the missing forum. The other was a temporary forum and is now gone. this one is a main forum and shouldn't go away.

Glad to see you back! I am sure your meeting will go well. For many people, their first meeting is like 'coming home', but to people that 'get it'. I hope you can find that same kind of support. As for teh side-effects for the medication......it happens. Don't get discouraged, because there may be other solutions, which could be pharma or could be something else. Let us know how your meeting goes! -pedagogue

An exercise buddy....that is great! It is so much better to start out with a partner to help each other along. In the beginning it is so hard to get started, but when you have someone else to do it with....it makes you accountable and gives comfort that someone else is there with with you. Congratulations on taking these steps for yourself.
