Meridia?

I am considering asking my psychiatrist to prescribe this for me, but I would like to hear what experiences people have had with it. Thanks!

Love and hugs,
Eddie

Hi eddie,
I can't remember if I tried Meridia or not (I was still using at the time, so the memory was not as good). I think I tried it and it did nothing for me. It was very expensive too; I don't think my insurance covered it. I do remember trying Phentermine, though, and that too did nothing for me. I actually felt hungrier on it somehow. My mom just finished a round of Phentermine, though and she lost 17 pounds. For me, the 12-step program I'm working now (Recovering from Food Addiction) is the first thing that's worked for me. I think I remember you saying from other posts that you have gone to OA. How do you feel about that. I know how darn frustrating this eating thing can be!

Thank you, gg!! I DO need to go back to OA sometime. My weight gain seems to be med-related. I think one of my antidepressants makes me crave sweets. I would have to go off of it before taking Meridia. Phetermine made me really anxious, as most stimulant-related drugs do. My doc doesn't really think Meridia works, but I think it may be worth a try.

Love and hugs,
Eddie

I'm reviving this thread as I've just started taking Meridia. I just took my fourth dose (daily). So far I've felt no effects although based on some other's experiences I read about on the net it may take a week or so I think.

I'm going to try it for a month to see how it goes. I understand the possible side-effects but both my doctor and myself figure it's worth a shot all things considered.

I'd really like to hear about other people's experiences and will post mine in case anyone's interested as the days

Thank you, 223!! I didn't end up taking Meridia myself, but I'm still interested in how you do with it, so do keep posting!!

Love and hugs,
Eddie

It's been a week now and I can't say that I've experienced any noticable change in my appetite. I'll keep taking it for now and see if anything "happens". Blood pressure seems to be ok though.

Thank you again, 223!! Besides the fact that I'm already on multiple meds, another reason my doc didn't want to put me on Meridia is that he just doesn't believe it works. I'm doing really well now with my diet, exercise, and weight loss, though. It took finding out I have diabetes for me to finally "surrender" and quit the sugar. You can read my thread "26 days sugar-free" for more on this topic. I wish you all the very best in the world, 223!!

Love and hugs,
Eddie
