I'm talking about the spread. It's really hurting my attitude. I lost a lot of weight. I attribute it mostly to the new job I have, because I walk all the time. Walk, bend, reach. Very active. I feel a lot better. I don't breathe funny going upstairs anymore. I'm not "done". I hadn't reached my goal weight and had even thought I might lower it a bit. I'd set it kind of high because I thought I'd never get there anyway. But I am the "okay" size. Yesterday I found some jeans on sale in the okay size. I knew better. They were that low-slung style. I pulled them on, they fit. Sort of. They fit from where they started (my hipbones) down. It was the above that upset me. It was this sort of oozing, rolling overhang that put me in mind of Jaba the Hut. That never happened when I was the okay size before. I got very discouraged. Why keep dieting if I have Jaba the Hut's midrift? Is there anything short of surgery that can make it go away? I don't just want to be slim. I want to be 23 and slim. I'm just whining.

You know Smoke, I was never thin at any of my ages.....so I am blindly setting my goal weight somewhere down in the average area for someone of my height and weight. Actually when I can look in the mirror and not feel grossed out, that's where I will be! lol Anyway, I did find, however, that some of the pilates exercise movements that targeted the mid-drift really do work.

Seriously Smokie. Lay flat on the floor arms over your head and hold onto something. Or hold onto Dinos ankles. then lift your legs straight up in the air, up and down using you lower ab muscles...those work alot and they are hard.

![]() Pilates. I've done those. I was not yet 30 at the time and I have little faith that I'll get the same kind of results. I'll give it the ol' twist and lift and see what happens, though. It's probably best if I stay lumpy. If I went in at the middle I'd just go around wearing hip huggers and get my belly button pierced and everyone would talk about that sad old lady trying to look like a teenager. I think I am the same age as Janet Jackson. She looks fabulous. Even in the middle. That can't all be diet and exercise and good genes.

Okay... I looked it up. I'm seven years older than Janet. That explains EVERYTHING!

I need to go back to this "holding Dino's ankles" thing. I tried that, but he got loose went out and bought drugs anyway. Seriously, I gave up the "exercising with Dino" routine long ago. The ATM Dash, The Eye Roll, The Jaw Drop, The Kick-Out, The All-Over Tense and Collapse, The Bail Sprint. That all used a lot of calories. I could've worn the hip huggers then! (I know, nobody calls them that. The teenagers think that boney protrusion on each side of their naval demarcates their waistline. I guess their hips are... where? Where do they think their hips are?)

OH, and a couple of weeks ago, there was this lady who came into the store to shop who was maybe 60. Very trim and put together looking. Great posture, and she had the fanny of a 30 year old. However, she had the waistline thing. It was so upsetting. This very trim woman oozed out over her belt. Her clothes were not too small, she just had a mini-innertube. I despaired. She's THIN! That's supposed to fix that!!!!!! This is really bugging me. You may have noticed.

LOL Smoke I adore you!! Quote Smoke: I guess their hips are... where? Where do they think their hips are?) Down at their knees the way they were any kind of pants...lol I could never and will never be able to wear those kind of pants. I agree with Paulie, it is hearder and harder to find pants that actually come up to the waist.....even in the plus sizes....OMG, do they really thing that big women look good wearing those low waisted jeans with their rolls upon rolls hanging over!!!???? NOT on this body! I will wear tank tops....low cut ones that show a little...well you know, but I won't show nothing below this waist!

OH and ANOTHER thing! I've been listening to all that hype about how dairy products help you go in at the middle. I forget. A hormone or something. Anyway I just went crazy with the yogurt. Particularly when I read that women who eat a quart of yogurt a week are 7 times less likely to get cancer than women who don't. Well NOW on the news they're drawing correlations between milk drinking and childhood obesity. The more milk, the more child. My mom made us drink milk at every meal. My brother has always been slim. I don't know what to believe!!!!!!

Yeh. The pants waist. We have one brand of jeans/pants you can rely on to have a waistband at the waist. Other than that it's droop city. What are they, saving fabric???? Honestly, I have better luck with men's pants. At least they come to the naval.

It is hard to know what to believe and listen to, because every other month they come up with one report that says this and another study that contradics those findings and says another. I just find that going back to basics....the basic food groups and moderation and exericse and hope for the best!

The milk thing has be all confused too. I mean as a kid I drank milk right from the cow, we had to stir the cream (makes me sick tothink of it now) talk about fattening. And I drank it all day long. hello can you say FAT little girl. And that pants thing...even young thin girls dont' look thin when the hig huggers (yes I wnat to call them that still) are to tight. Even my step daughter who is thin, if those pants are too tight, she gets a roll and it does not look good.

Dangit... I come from a generation where jeans were TIGHT! By golly we had to walk 10 miles in the snow... I mean... we had to lie down of the bed to zip our jeans! If we did not have a headache in an hour they were too baggy! We bought 'em tight and sat in a bathtub of hot water then wore them to dry to shrink'em to our butts. Now I have to buy pants that bag in the seat... where I still look fine... just so I won't spill out over my waistband. It's WRONG!!!!

I agree! It's wrong Do you know that they make those jeans/pants for little girls too. I even have a hard time finding pants for my little one that doesn't show her little tummy! Her school has a dress code that they actually enforce, so even if I didn't approve of her belly showing, her school does! NOT FAIR!!! Thanks for this thread Smoke, I'm off to work now!

I thought i was the only one who bought them a tad baggy in the butt so as not to spill over!!! Nice to know I'm not alone there... I NEVER used to have any weight around my ribcage...i don't know what the heck happened...other than the pull of gravity...but it really p$sses me off!!!! Not just that but i've been considering wearing my bra to bed!!! Just to defy that gravity!!! What next eh?! ![]() and thank you for the birthday greeting!!! hugs to you! |

Hi Smoke, I understand how you feel about wanting to be slim & young again, too. I want the same thing. I've been so unhealthy & steadily getting worse for a long while now. I still see myself as young, but when I look in a mirror, it really surprises me. I have an energetic spirit, but my health keeps getting in the way. By the way; I call them hip-huggers too. LOL !!!! I wore mine VERY tight, too !!! Lying on the bed to zip mine was an every day thing !!!! Quote:
