Weellllll... I had gotten off the water kick. I confess. I got bored. So to try to get myself interested again, I decided to try interesting water. I got a big ol' thing of club soda. I like club soda and you can also use it to get stains out of fabric. Only the bottle kind of slipped out of my hand just as I was taking the top off, and there was this sudden explosive spray. I don't suppose wearing the water works as well as drinking it?

After you get the CLub Soda off you LOL - what are we going to do to get back on track here??? I would shower all day if that worked to get the water in my system. yuck - I just thought of this, is it stickly - do you need the pit crew with the tomato juice to clean you up?????

A nutritionist once told me that the important thing is to drink 8 glasses of water... the water could have other things in it. Not too much caffeine... and for us, obviously not too much sugar. What is left? Flavored club soda? Diet orange pop? I got a glass that looks like a big ol' Iris, sort of. That entertains me for a glass or two. Then I have to start pretending it came from the fountain of youth or something, or throwing in fruit or a splash of juice. Maybe we could get 8 different really cool drinking glasses, and give each of them a turn a day. I have my Iris and my Coca Cola fountain glass... oh yeah... and my Piggy mug! It has a picture of 3 flamingos standing at a tall ballet bar with their leg placed upon it. Next to them is a little piggy who barely comes to their knees, wearing a tutu and looking up longingly at the bar. The caption reads "Of course you can." What kind have you got??? |

Darn - those pit crew guys were really looking forward to drenching you in tomato juice. the glass idea is a good one - but I only have one with a snowman on it, and I bought that as my water glass (get it snowman - refreshing cool water). All my others are clear plastic or clear glass - boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (It's a control thing, everything has to match - you don't want to go there with this A). Either i need to shop for some fun glasses or i need another idea. Oh yeah - my doctor told me any liquid like you said without sugar is good for your body. I can't drink diet soda, the nurtisweet gives me a headache.

I keep an assortment of herbal tea bags (I like Celestial Seasonings, especially Country Peach and Cranberry Cove). I put two bags in a pitcher and fill it with cold water. About 20 minutes later in the fridge (don't have to do hot water or the sun or anything) it's non-caloric yummy jazzy water. Breaks up the monotony, and it's thirst quenching too, unlike decaf or diet soda. :-} Last edited by Pray_Lady; 08-16-2002 at 02:39 PM. |

Thanks that is a great idea. I have peppermint right now, I will try some with that and then get some sweeter ones for the old sweet tooth.

Hi ladies I haven't been on the water kick with you, but I am getting ready to give losing 10 to 15 pounds my best shot. With me, I need to lose 15 to hold at 10, as my weight fluctuates. And I have allowed the pounds to add up the past year or two, and although I don't qualify for any diet programs Poster Girl "Before" picture, I am sure my health would be better if I got it down and kept it there. Also, I am "considering" quitting smoking and don't want the weight gain to unmotivate me....key word "considering", I'm trying to psych up first...I think that's called a stall. Anyway, I discovered a great drink by accident, and it is so much better than just water, for me. I was cutting up a watermelon for the neighbour kids and let the juice run into a bowl. I added a little lemon juice and lots of ice water and it was refreshing and almost calorie free. So I saved a couple of pieces, which I will mush up and used in a few more of these tasties. I've been lurking reading your posts, and have picked up a lot of good ideas. Thanks!!!! Maybe I will look like Audrey when I am done...now where's my scarf?

Hi Anns, I know you meant it as a joke, but I hope you don't end up looking like Audrey. She struggled with eating disorders her whole life and was never happy in her body, no matter how little it got. I hope you look like the healthy, vibrant, strong woman you were meant to be. At a certain point what needs to change is how we see ourselves, not our weight. 100 pounds overweight is a health concern. So is 50 pounds. If you're looking at losing 10 or 15 pounds, I would suggest making sure you're really looking at your body in a realistic way before trying to lose. Sometimes we take out on our bodies things that can only be healed in our hearts. And good luck quitting smoking! That's a great step toward life! I had my last cigarette almost 10 years ago, when I had my first child. BTW, I only gained a couple of pounds - because I started jogging! I was a serious, serious chain smoker. I knew I either had to smoke or breathe so I'd jog a couple of miles which got me breathing and also really helped with the tension of quitting. I was no runner or athlete either. If I jogged around other people I was always the slowest one! Anyway, if I can do it, you can do it! Good luck! |

Good Advice Pray Lady! As for the people who hate water, keep a bottle that holds 4-8 8 fluid oz, put water in it, and put it by your bed. When you wake up, slam it. That way you get it out of the way. It will go down easier being room temp (at least it does for me). I HATED drinking water, HATED going to the bathroom all the time. Now I crave it and I don't go to the bathroom all the time. So it does work! Shreks |

Hey Pray lady I did not know that about Audrey. How very sad..she was such a wonderful person who would have guessed that SHE would have a problem. And I appreciate the concern about the weight thing (and smoking too ). I don't see myself as particularly fat, but I used to weigh 25 pounds more than I do even now, and it affected my health. I have arthritis and cannot do some of the exercises that I would like to...walking is good but jogging is out of the question. My knees and feet swell up like an elephant's.Swimming is good and there is a big pool at the park about 4 doors from my house. I often wait for the "adult" swim time and go over for a while. I just bought a new bathing suit this summer and have found the courage to wear it LOL. So for me this is more of a way to keep an eye on myself and losing 10 pounds now is easier than 30 pounds later. Believe me, I love to eat...that is my problem. You'll never catch me passing up a meal - it's the ice cream and "treats" that do me in. And I really wouldn't want to be as thin as Audrey...but I sure would like to look that good in sun glasses and a scarf
