sugar

Hello this is my first time here and i have been in and out of recovery for 14 plus years. My journey has shown me that i must look at all things that create unmanagablity in my life. It started with drugs....then relationships.... on to spending.....and smoking cigs.... and now after my pregnancy i am trying to loose weight. My husband and i have been doing weight watchers. So far so good. I have lost 31 pounds over the past 6 months. Slow! My current issues are about about SUGAR. I just cannot seem to get enough of it. Does anyone else crave sugar and is this possibly related to the fact that i was a binge drinker? I have heard some people say that recovering people will replace the drugs with food. I have done this and i want to fill this hole with God. Any suggestions about sugar cravings and filling the hole with God?

Hi keowee and welcome!

I have sugar cravings... if I eat sugar. Raw sugar works on me like an addictive substance. The more I have the more I want. If I kick it down to a minimum, I don't crave it. I know Dot talks a lot about her sugar blues, and maybe she will have some stories to share, too.

Hugs!
Smoke

I am there too! It is not the easiest thing to stop but if I don't eat it I don't crave it. Chocolate the same way. You sound like me...always about fixin' something. I want to know when I will be done.

Anyway my prescription? Sugar free popcicles! They are great!

Now my dad is an alcoholic 30 years sober. He has a bowl of jelly beans by his side all the time.

I have to second the sugar free popsicles. I would never have tried them without JT's recommendation but they have changed my summer.
