Water

Hi,
I've been thinking water all day, thanks to someones suggestion, maybe if I keep my focus on more water I can keep it less on sweets which are my down fall. I did manage to eat some cookies and some pop corn, but I think its such a habit I just do it. Over the years, I tried all the diet plans and I'd lose some, not all. One time I actually lost 80 pounds, but once I quit riding my bike I watched it all pile back on and then I got so frustrated I just gave up. So I just quit focusing on it, I got so tired of never being able to lose weight, I just refused to try. Now I feel like I've put my self in this box of apathy and given myself permission to stay this way for so long, that I feel like Iam fighting that, more then the weight. Has anyone else had this problem.

Sure, we become complacent and comfortable...eventhou we are not happy with the waythings are, it's easier than trying again and again only to feel disappointed at our efforts. In other words we become discouraged and accept that we are miserable and that's the way life is.

But life does not have to be that way. We just need to keep going and fighting for what we want to acheive. That why we seek out support from others....to help us stay motivated even when we don't feel like it, even when we feel like failures, they and faith in our Higher Power (God) can give us that strength to keep going to our goals and maintain them.

So I say....you fall off....you get right back up on that bike and try again!!! You slip up on the food plan....or excerise.....don't quit or give up or beat yourself up for it.....just start over...with the very next bite! If you blew a whole day.....well, OK, go to bed and start a new day with the next sun rise!! Life is full renewals!

And drink that water!!!!

HI, Sherella!
I am really trying to motivate myself right now. Something that sticks in my head is this:
"If I want something I've never had, I need to do something I've never done." (Myles, Alanon).
Don't ever give up, you're worth more than that!!

Hey Sherella!

About the water....
I saw you mention that you hate it. Big sympathetic nods from me! It seems a really silly thing to resent but chugging down 8 glasses of water a day just seemed like an unbearable drag to me.

So I went out and bought a pretty glass. Is that silly or what? But I feel so elegant sipping from my pretty glass. When I'm in no-nonsense mood, I fill a two liter bottle with water from the tap and keep it by my desk. I absent mindedly sip instead of absent mindedly snacking. And it doesn't have to be plain water. I think Paulie likes little splash of cranberry juice. I like that, lemon and a lil'splash of orange. As long as you're using a flavor that doesn't add much in calories or bad things like caffeine and artificial sweeteners, you're doing great. There are lots of herbal teas that fit the bill. I like peppermint for summer.

Hugs!
Smoke

Water - blech!!!! blech!!!! blech!!!

but you know what, after really putting effort into drinking water for a little over a year now, my body feels it when I don't get enough. Never thought I would say that, but it does.

Yep - I buy the 1/3 less sugar cranberry juice, but about an inch of it in the bottom of my 16 oz cup and fill the rest with water. Sometimes I do lemon too, but the cranberry is my favorite. I still struggle, I can't just sip it through out the day. I fill the glass and chug it!!!

Hi Sunflower gal,
Thanks for the quote, Iam going to have to write it down, I've never heard that one before. It's funny how just the act of posting and getting a post can make a person feel good. I've always shyed away from online boards etc. but everyone here seems to be pretty genuine, and just nice. Have a great day.

Thanks Smoke for the tips, Iam going to have to try some of the ideas you mention, I've tried alot of the bottled water and I sort of lean toward ice mountain, if I could say I have a preference that would be it. Normally though I just drank it down as fast as possible when the idea came to me that I must need it, maybe if I try the art of carrying it around with me and sipping on it I might develope a kinship. My mother loved blue glass she said it had a special effect on her. I thought she was just being eccentric as usual. Maybe there is something to it after all.

Hi Pony,
When did you get so smart? It's funny how I could have said and probably did say the same things to others but sometimes it takes someone like you, to remind me that I need to get going, Thanks for helping to light the fire.
