Greetings from The Bahamas!! The past week Ive been on Atkins and have cheated almost everyday because of sugar withdrawels [I think] now my question is am I on the right forum I see several forums about eating disorders as Im looking for OA.Does it matter which one I go to or can I participate in all? or is all have one common thread?? I have been clean from substance abuse for over 4yrs now I found out I have allergy to sugar..and since I know this now I want to change my thinking and habits..and start recovery in OA. |

Hey Sandy. I am not involved in OA, but wanted to say congrats on the 4+ years. I think there are some fairly regular posters that can answer your questions...hopefully they come along soon. Either way, feel free to post in this section. You can find support here. Why did you choose Atkins? Just curious. I also avoid sugar. Especially HFCS.

Sandyshores- I also don't use OA (though I attend Al-anon on a regular basis) and I have found that it supports my recovery from an eating disorder very nicely. Welcome, and we have at least one poster who is finding a lot of relief with OA, and I am sure she will be along soon. I just want to commend you on all the hard things you have worked through in the last four years, and doing all of it while being sober. Many of us on here are struggling with food addictions in addition to another addiction.... Welcome. |

| Welcome!
Hi Sandyshores! Great to meet you. I changed my eating habits with Atkins about 8 years ago and I credit Dr. Atkins for starting me on the best way to eat, for me at least. I since have gravited to a Paleo diet, which I love. I don't eat frankenfoods or fake stuff now, either. I have about 20 pounds to lose, which I thought would just fall off after quitting drinking. But nope. It's still there - I seem to have replaced booze with lots of food, which then kicked off my dormant eating disorder. I quit drinking by employing AVRT and I'm working on using that same technique to stop the eating disorder. Congratulations on four years! |

Welcome Sandyshores! I am a gratefully recovering compulsive overeater who is a member of OA. I currently am in the OA 90 plan. This is so sugar no flour. There are tons of different eating plans on OA. You can google up oa.org and I attend the phone meetings. Or you can ask any questions you have! I will try to answer them. blessings, Lily |
