Visualizing Weight

Something I like to do when I try to lose weight is to visualize it.

Losing a pound or 5 pounds does not seem significant, and even 10 pounds semms to hardly make a dent.

But when I visualize the weight, and think about carrying it around all day every day, it makes more sense to me.

For example

1 pound - a pound of butter
Now this is not a lot to carry around, but is still enough to notice.

5 pounds - a bag of potatoes
Try carrying this around your waist for a day.

10 pound - a turkey
I KNOW I don't want to carry a turkey around for long.

Now I may be crazy, but this works for me LOL.

Hugs
Ann

It's not crazy...lol.Change One suggests doing just that at the supermarket.Try lugging around ten pounds of sugar,or twenty!I've lost 50 pounds and I can sure see why I used to get tired and breathless so quick. That's a lot of taters to tote around all day

The other day a lady said she could hardly picture me riding my own motorcycle because I am "so tiny".Now the glow I got from that is lighter than air

I have a friend who went to a weight class, and something they did was put fat on the scale. Big, lardy fat.

Then they handed out 5 pound bags and let everyone carry it for the rest of the meeting.

It was motivation enough for her, and in the end she lost over 60 pounds and is in terrific health today. She had no idea that so many of her health problems were directly related to her weight.

I need motivation too, and that would do it for me

Abosolutely that kind of stuff works. I have only lost 27 (well I hope it is still 27 haha) and I know the difference I feel. Enough to get back on track to feel even better.

Phoenix - that must have been awesome!!!!!!!

27 pounds!!!! Wow, Paulie, you are truly an inspiration.

Let's see....27 pounds? That would be three 9 pound babies, OR a 17 pound turkey AND a 10 lb. bag of potaotes OR two of my Toby's....like I said...WOW!

I like to visualize myself being exactly the kind of shape I would like to be, as well as being strong, fit and healthy. Especially when I'm exercising. It helps to keep me motivated.

Visualizing that extra weight that way sounds good too, so I'm going to try that as well.

Oh that I can do.. hubby trying to be supportive and show me how much the weight weighed I've lost plopped 2 huge dumb bells in my arms...now I wasn't sure how to take it but boy I was amazed at how much xx number of pounds weighed!

Told the dumb bell thanks but I'm not quite up to using them for their intended purpose quite yet.. as they were really just to heavy! Crazy!!
