Talking New Years Resolutions

Well, I must confess, I totally blew the diet over Christmas. It wasn't so much a lack of willpower as the fact that I have always allowed myself the "treat" of enjoying food that seems special to this season and this year was no exception.

Luckily, I now feel the after affects of bloatedness, too much weight and dragginess after eating all the wrong things.

SO.......my New Years Resolutions will be

1. I will make a healthy plan to eat properly but in portions that will help me keep my energy but not overindulge in anything.

2. I will make a point of keeping my fridge stocked with veggies, fruit, and good foods and not buy anything that would tempt me to stray. And I will plan ahead for my meals, which will help me to keep away from being led by my cravings and impulses.

3. While I try to lose weight, I will follow an eating plan that motivates me to stick to it.

4. I promise myself to do at least one half hour of good exercise a day - either by brisk walking or working out at home. I may join a gym, but because I have to be careful about high impact exercise (arthritis) then I will find an exercise program that works for me - swimming, treadmill, and they have a "dance-exercise" program that sounds fun.

5. I will keep my expectations in line with my capabilities - this will help me stay true to my plan and also not get discouraged if it is a slower program than a "crash diet".

My goal is 15-20 pounds by Easter. That should get me into my summer clothes and is just over a pound a week, which is sensible and healthy.

How about you? Any more resolutions that I can steal

I just got up and I have to go to work today so I haven't thought about what my plan is yet. but while I am waiting for the soccer team to play their games....I will be doing some writing and I will get back to you on this!

Meanwhile.....anyone else......jump right on in here! This will be fun. All of us working together; getting and keeping each other motivated!

GO.........GO............GO Yeah!

check you all later!

Of course I brought lots of goodies home from my moms yesterday but the kids are here for a week, so it will be gone fast - LOL.

So today I get back on track taking care of myself. My goal is also April Ann - my 40th bday!!!!

Pony - I thought you would have til after the first off of work, no school - but I guess some kids have sports games, I did not realize that.

Is there a doctor on board? LOL

I say the same, I blew my diet. I have been sick on and off for three months and haven´t been able to do my workout. I always gain 5 kilos about 10 pounds if I neglect it, but now it´s more like 7 kilos, 14 pounds I need to take off. I could hardly get into my Christmas dress. My thighs are big too and I feel uncomfortable. I don´t want to run around with all these extra kilos.

I have a new cold, so I cannot work out yet, and I´m not going swimming in the cold and damp. I don´t know how to beat this! I have a well developed diet plan which always works, but how can I stick to it when I´m always sick? The doctor cannot find anything wrong with my immune system, but I will have another blood test. I couldn´t believe getting my second cold of this winter after I recovered from the 2 months flu.

Hope someone has good advice. I need it!

Well, in one sense I am glad the holiday is over, because all the holiday goodies are gone. Well at least most of them. My husband got me a can of my favorite See's candy. The Almond Royals. They are almonds covered in a dark, not really fudge, but a very tasty chocolate.

So far, I've been able to resist them. I a few yesterday, but not today. My favorite dieting aid is to eat 2 to 3 apples or pears a day. I have been doing this for years as a way of keeping weight off, and the other week a read in Prevention that now it is proven that eating 2-3 apples or pears a day does indeed help to lose weight.

OOhh! that's a great tip! I will have to try that. I like things that are natural!

OK, New Year's goals.........

I am going to set some small goals first ..........

I am going to get in a daily excerise routine of some type of toning and at least 20 mins. of cardio.

I am going to continue to make healthy choices in the types of food I eat.

I am going to watch my portions and not eat til I feel full.....I can stop at comfortable

Continue to drink the more water and less soda.

I am going to start off with these and then increase them as I go along. I would like to go down another size within two months. I think I can because my pants are loose now but not baggy....so there's a chance I can do it!

OK.....ready......set.....start!!!!!! and we're off!

I read this thread this morning. "Apples. What a great idea." I thought. That's almost like solid food. I bought apples. I ate the whole bag. 3 lbs of apples. They were in here where I was working and it was purely absentminded munching. Now I have a stomach ache. I'll bet that's not how the diet is supposed to work, huh? But hey... I don't want any cookies now.

LOL - I ran out and bought apples and pears, and have eaten one of each so far.

No, Smoke - I believe you are supposed to incorporate them into your regular diet as the fruit portions . I prefer juice, so like you my tummy is not thrilled.

LOL- Smoke, You are too funny. Yes, while it might work that way I don't think it's a long lasting thing...LOL

They are a great crunchy type snack and does fill you up. Aside from the tummy ache, it won't hurt you to eat plenty of them.....but Smoke.....in moderation!!!! lol

I did pretty good this holiday, only one meal did I overindilge, all the others I kept busy being Hostess/server, and quite frankly was too tired to eat!

My New Year's Resolutions for my lifestyle change for good health will be simple first of all. done the rigid strist discipline thing...doesn't work for me.

Instead of watching eevery little thing I eat I will limit and watch the amount'portions.

I will continue to walk the 2 miles a day taking kids to/from school, and if bakc andf neck cooperates will add a mile every few weeks.

I will continue drinking lots of water and I water dowm fruit juices, tastes better to me anyways.

I will continue to advance in yoga and plan on starting karate lessons with my two kiddo's.

I will do deep braething and meditation every day, I have lost inches before JUST doing this, the increased oxygen really burns the calories and the menatl image/mediataion truly facilitates weight loss/health I believe...maybe I am crazy, but it's worked before for me.

I will continue to strugglw iwth quittting smoking, have really lessened the amount, but want to quit altogether for good.

I will look in my mirror every morning, andsay Tammie, you look damn good just how you are, just stay in the solution, eating healthy and exercise....it'll only get better and better...I am great just as I am today, right now, at this moment...which is all we ever have anyways....

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE.......May 2004 BE YOUR BEST YEAR EVER>>>>>>LOVE YOURSELF< RIGHT NOW>>>JUST AS YOU ARE!!!!

Smoke,

I think you better be prepared for spending some time in the ladies room after eating all those apples. LOL

Along with our exercising, it is also important to stretch. Keeping muscles flexible goes a long way in toning them up also. Especially as we lose weight so we don't get that loose skin. Stretching should never be done to "cold" muscles though. Always warm up by either jogging in place, taking a 5 to 10 minute walk, so anything that gets blood flowing to your muscles.

Never over stretch, only easy and gently. If it hurts, stop.

New Years Resolution - to care how I feel!

I am going to add one more to mine.

I decided to take the leap and quit smoking so I am going to pay special attention to my diet and have lots of healthy low cal nibblies around. Nothing will discourage me more than losing weight. And I will walk even more when the cravings hit.

AND I still intend to lose my weight by spring!!!!

How's that for brave and determined??
