| Finally!!
Hi all! I have been trying to formulate an eating plan. I am so obsessive about...not food...but having a plan I can stick with that I have a hard time sticking to anything. So here it is. I found those Atkins Shakes and I really like them. 14 g protein + like 5g fiber+1 net carb+vitamins in 170 calories. The chocolate tastes great and curbs my sweet tooth. The protein keeps me from getting hungry for 3-4 hours. So one for breakfast...and apple or raw veggies mid-morning...a 300 cal lunch (lean cusine or something similar) and a light dinner. Meat and salad or something I like but smaller portions. I think this sounds reasonable. Also the Atkins "Endulge" bars are awesome too...again sweet with some protein and fiber so if I want a snack mid-afternoon that is what I am doing. I have never really used what is out there in drinks and snacks in my diet but they are healthy, tasty, quick and soooo easy. I have discovered a whole new world! Has anyone tried those shakes?? I love chocolate milk in the morning and they seem like such a treat! I hate counting and such so those pre-counted foods serve me well. Does anyone else use these products? Hugs, JT

((Hi JT)) Yes I have tried those atkins shakes and endulge bars, and they are REALLY good. My problem is I wont stick to them. I lost about 5 lbs. when I was taking them, but with these darn holidays and all the goodies out there especially chocolate goodies, I'm finding it very hard to stick with it. I'm trying to take one day at a time with this obsession I have with chocolate, like I do with my alcoholism, but like I say with all the excitement from the holidays right now, its becoming a battle.![]() Maybe I should just stay out of the stores until after the holidays. (lol) Let my husband or son shop for me. ha ha Anyone have any tips on how to get past the holidays without OD'ing on sweets over the holidays? Love Bonni

That's why I like those shakes and bars because they do relieve my sweet tooth. I will prioritize my way through the holiday's...there are some things I LOVE and I will eat, but others that I reeeally can pass up. I tried straight Atkins but you better be carrying your days food in your pocket! There are no "no carb" snacks in vending machines etc unless you want to live on Mr Peanut. I am just going to cut most carbs and those two products help. Oh and about chocolate...I think if you eat it you crave it. If you don't you don't...at least that has been true for me. My dad (28 yrs sober) subsisted on nothing but jelly beans when he stopped drinking. He still has a sweet tooth! JT

I haven't tried those, or even seen them here yet, but it sounds like a good plan. When I am at home, I don't seem to have much of a problem. I just keep lots of good healthy stuff around and plan my meals ahead of time and keep my snacking to a minimum. But I am hoping to head back to work soon and I tend to overeat at lunch, because I am hungry and because I don't like to get hungry in the afternoon. So those would be perfect to take to work. I love Christmas goodies so what I do is at home I freeze some and hide others way back in my cupboard so I am not tempted. Then, if we have company or go out where goodies are offered, I do have some, but just try to keep it to a minimum. I'll be looking for those next time I go shopping. Thanks JT. Hugs Ann

JT - I have not tried the shakes but will get some, but those bars are good and do help with a sweet tooth. I have a mini goal for myself by Christmas (big goal by April) anyway, I lost 2 more pounds this week - YAHOO! and am feeling back on track again. but.....bah humbug....the customer christmas goodies have started coming already. My SO brought home the yummiest looking cookies Tuesday. I told him I was not having any cause they are 'fat a$$ cookies" not white/peanut butter chip, but fat a$$ cookies and I have not had any. I ate whatever I wanted during the holiday week, and that satisified me for a while and helped boost the metabolism a little too. So happy holidays and beware of the fat a$$ treats!!!! sorry - thought it was funny!

It WAS funny!! OMG at my office there is no way we can eat what is brought in. Today we had a meeting and the office buys lunch so I had a veggie wrap. Tomorrow we have a meeting too...who knows. I think I have found a pretty easy system for me. I keep dried peanuts at work to and I ate a few today about 10:30. And I did the treadmill and weights. (Yesterday too) That Slim Fast stuff is all carbs and no protein....the Atkins seems healthier and holds me over longer. I bought a couple of the meal bars and this weekend when I am shopping I plan to throw one in my purse and have some thing to eat handy. It sucks hitting 50!! JT

Good job JT in coming up with your plan. I'll have to look into those bars. Sound yummy! Let us know how the week goes with this new plan! hugs

I will but right now I am hungry!! Wanting something I can sink my teeth into. But here in the office the only thing around are sweets so my shake will keep me from those. I have always thought if you want to eat large it is better to do it in the morning. True? JT

Well, that is probably the best time, yes. You have the whole day to burn it off. I find that if I eat big in the morning then I am not hungry at all around the "lunch hour" time and end up skipping it altogether til dinner. That's not good either..... Have a good start to your day....check in later. I'm off to work

JT, Thanks for mentioning the Atkins Shakes. I tried the Slim Fast Shakes a couple of times, but they make me feel horrible because I have hypoglycemia. They throw me into a big bad attack because of the large amount of carbohydrates & because of the almost nil amount of protein. I'm supposed to have regular protein & not as much carbohydrates. That sounds like just what I need to try. I have never tried them before, so we'll see.
