| Eating Disorders? I've suffered from a really severe form of Bulimia Nervosa since I was 11/12 now. Its been 5 years, many close to death encounters & still I can't seem to find my way out. I receive therapy but it's never really helped. Anyway, Just letting anyone know if they need support, I'm always here. Much Love, MK |

Did you ever try OA? there are a bunch of people in recovery from bulima from OA. I am sure there are some in UK too! oagb.org.uk However if you can do the phone meetings in the US the OA 90 day meetings are the best. They have a structure of eating that lessens your desire to binge. I have met countless people on there who are just like you.

Hi girloverboard. I just want to say Welcome to this forum and I hope you'll keep coming back. Thank you for the offer of support for all of us here. We do need it. I'd also like to say that it sounds like Lily has some really good ideas. I don't think that I could add anything better to what she said. I think that it all just comes down to really believing that we have the power to choose what we want for ourselves and for us to try and make the best choice, just one trying moment at a time and then getting up to try again even when we slip. I also believe that it's most important to work our recovery program with others who need to work their recovery program too. If we try to do it by ourselves, it'll be next to impossible. That's just my 2 cents. ((((((((((((((Warm Hugs))))))))))))))))

I found that DBT therapy helps although I'm getting bact to it because Anorexia has a hold of me again. You do have to choose to be healthy but that doesn't mean it will be easy good luck |

Hey, I am 33, also bulimic and been hospitalized twice for it. I'm not sure where you are in the UK but have you heard of ABA? (Anorexics and Bulimics Anonymous), they are a relatively new fellowship and have several meetings in central London a week. Could be worth a try, check out their website and their book is fantastic. Anorexics and Bulimics Anonymous Good luck. M (PM me if you like, would be happy to chat) |

I was a practicing bulimic for 11 years and weighed 66 at age 24. I'm 5 feet one inch. Bulimia owned me. I attended counseling for 2 years to no avail, I had to have a spiritual answer. I found a way to stop the binge/purge cycle by attending OA. God has all power and although I wasn't interested in getting His attention at first, He became real to me through the 12 steps and has proven to be my answer. Thank God for the 12 steps. Thanks for letting me share, Mary

If anyone is interested, the only requirement for membership for OA is a desire to stop eating compulsively. There is a solution. You are not alone.

Hey I'm a long term sufferer from Bulimia as well. I found inpatient visits often got me on the right track but have ended in relapse. It's very helpful to have people who understand and support. What is OA? is it for overeaters or..? |
