| HELP! ...please....
I am an addict and food was my first love...then I started drinking and recently got sober (three months this week). I am feeling all of those old out of control feelings and had a binge tonight. It is unhealthy for me in many ways including that it makes me want to drink. What food plans take away the cravings? Any other forums or places to get help with this? Thanks so much in advance for any help! Lindsay |

Welcome to the Eating Disorders Forum, Wantthatfeeling. I do hope that you'll come back again, as I know that there'll be others along soon that can maybe answer your questions. I know that I don't have the answers, at least not tonight.

Lindsey, welcome to this forum. Food addiction is one of the hardest to live with but not impossible to come to recovery. With any addiction you need a plan and a program with a support group. Now, in my opinion, there are two programs that have had good success rates of recovery. One is Overeaters Anonymous, which is a 12 step based group that deals with getting at the core of why you use food as a drug.....like drinking. Another is Weight Watcher's, which has got a wondrful support system and great healthy food program. they teach life changes so that you learn a healthy way to keep off the weight. Meanwhile we are here for support as well. We share in our jouney with the food issues in hopes that it can help someone here.
