| I truely HATE food.
I listen and read about people who can't stop eatting and wish that I were one of those people. My problem is I really hate food and eating. I will put food into my mouth and for the life of me I cant swallow it. As hard as I try I just sit there and chew and chew until I go and spit it out.Right now I am drinking 3 Ensure a day to get something into my system. One of the really SAD things I found out while searching for help with this is that the state of Connecticut does not accept males into there programs. In Hartford they have one of the best places on the eastern coast called THE INSTITUTE OF LIVING ,and I was told directly that because I was a male I did not qualify. We are in the year 2009 right? I guess the only thing thats keeping me from going off on these people is the thought,When they (the general public)talk about Susan B. Anthony (A program for battered woman..and men )they tend to always think of woman.I hope you understand what I mean. All in all ther still should be no difference weather your a man or woman,if you have a problem, you have a problem and there should be some kind of help out there. |

That's really unbelievable!! There should be no distinction at all. It's absolutely ridiculous. What programs are you trying to get into? Perhaps your doctor would be of help in this situation. He/She might know of a place where you can get the help you need regardless of your sex. Good luck to you and I hope you'll keep posting. (((HUGS)))

Tim- Wow, that really is something else, I can't believe it!!! Maybe going through your PCP (if you haven't already) would yield more options?? How can this not be discrimination??? arrgh!!! Good luck and keep us posted!!!!

Tim, Honestly, even though I know that most people think of eating disorders as gender-specific, it still astonishes me that they would deny you treatment based on gender alone. Daniel Johns, lead singer of Silverchair, is a notorious anoretic and he almost died from his problem. There had to have been help for him somewhere. Is money an issue for you? If not, then I would look into some of the more international options. Europeans tend to be more open-minded about Life. You probably would not have this problem overseas. Good luck, Tim, and keep posting! Sugar |
