Morning all - checking in for another OS-free today! I woke up and did some light exercise using the Wii Fit and I feel great to be at work having my first cup of coffee!

As predicted I am in pain from the gym qnd my muscles are too sore to even carry the burden of an OS to my mouth.
Day 2 at the gym today so tomorrow my shoulders will be too sore to shoulder the burden of OS"s.
Keep up the strong work one and all.
It is great to see our numbers increasing on a daily basis. Maybe we can have our own online meeting.

Hello All and welcome Neagrm,
I can't believe I've gone over a week, I'm really proud of myself and that's also helping me to keep it up. What I can't understand is why I haven't lost any weight, but I'm not real worried about it either, it will probably drop all of a sudden, or I'll have to get back into my Weight watcher routine. I picked up 5 pounds stuffing myself with sweets to compensate the lack of alcohol, I have lost one pound of that fat. But with no sweets and no alcohol you'd think the rest would start disappearing too...oh well.
Keep at it everyone, it feels so nice to be OS free for the day !

I'm still really happy about trying Weight Watchers, I always doubted whether it'd work or not. I enjoy keeping track of what I eat and it doesn't bother me to count points. In many ways it's like a recovery program, progress not perfection. Right now I'm a little discouraged about my weight going back up, but if I step back and take a look at the big picture, I'm much happier with my appearance than I was after the holidays.

Still OS free, but I munched again last night on salty snacks and I felt like I overate. *Sigh*

Thanks for the welcome. I didn't do so well today and need to start again. My downfall is the evenings and I need to figure out something to do about it in the afternoons; some substitution maybe.

I'm also on prednisone for Crohn's disease and it gives me the hungries quite strongly especially later afternoon. OK, I think I need a plan. Tomorrow afternoon I will drink more water/herbal tea and think of something nice to do for myself instead of food. I will find a healthy snack.

I will call an Al-Anon friend first before I act on cravings. I will tell myself, OK you can wait five minutes and then have something healthy first. I don't know; just thinking aloud.

Thanks,
Nea

I am grateful to come here right after awakening...I find your OS ES&H very supportive. I need to work on other areas of my recovery...I like Nea's idea of calling before acting on cravings...for me, it is on-the-spot ES&H!!!!!!

FYI, I will be gone for 5 days after tomorrow AM. Take care all.

Good day fellow abstainers.
Does anybody watch the TV show Rhe Biggest Loser?
Well my wife is also trying to drop a few pounds so we had ground chicken last night as a substitute for lean ground beef.
It was a coincidence that there was a nutrition question on the challenge about which contains more fat and the chicken has a higher fat content than the beef so that wasn't a good substitute.
The best sub is ground turkey breast and second is lean ground turkey.
Another surprising fact was that a fish filet fast food sandwich has about 650 calories so it should be avoided.
I remained sugar free but I guess that the ground chicken canceled it out.

Good morning fellow OS-free members! Just having my morning snack - plain yogurt sweetened with splenda and fresh raspberries it's delicious. I ran last night again (I do on-again off-again sprints across a cornfield for about 30 minutes with the dogs), then did Qi Kong mindful movement then 30 minutes of meditation it really helped me to focus and to stay present and grateful.

Down 1.3 lbs this morning I feel wonderful.

Lovely day, I feel great, and when I get up and outside for my morning jog with Fido, I feel "clean". I know that might sound strange, but that's what came to me this morning, without alcohol and sugar, and with fresh air (it's a great mixture) I feel clean, new, pure, I can't really explain it but I like it !!! So I'm still with you all. Let's keep it up !

Calipop just stick with it!! I have been eating like a SAINT for 20 or so days, and I have not seen a difference on the scale either however I feel it inside! I KNOW that I am on the right track, and eventually the #'s will catch up. I have to look at this as an eating regimen for living, a long term commitment to overall health and wellness.

I haven't posted in a couple of days, so I wanted you all to know that I am still OS free. I haven't read the last few posts yet, so I will go and do that now.

Poppy, I also can really understand this. The less unnatural stuff I put in my body and the more fresh air and sunshine I get, the more I feel healthy and refreshed. Thanks for sharing that you feel this way too.

Way to go Cali. I know that if you keep it up, you will see the results.

From my past experiences, I have learned that you are right on about how you need to look at what we used to call 'a diet'. Changing our eating to a healthy eating regimen for life, is the only way that we will stick with it, see positive results and get to keep them. You are wise.

Fub, maybe calorie-wise, but not canceled out when dealing with obvious sugar free. You are a success. You are doing great, being OS free. Keep on keepin' on.

Rowan, I'm happy to hear how great you are doing. Running across the cornfields brought back fond memories of my childhood. We lived by cornfields and we played in them alot and ran through them alot. Way to go on dropping the lbs. too.

Dang Ro, gimme some of that mojo, I want what you got! We don't have any cornfields around here, I guess I could sprint through the desert and dodge rattlesnakes! Actually, I've got bad knees so I can't run for extended periods, looking forward to swimming season for my nightly work-out. Glad to hear you're feeling good!

Fubar- You might want to try Smart Ground or a similar veggie protein ground beef substitute. My fiancee made some pasta sauce this week using that, it was delicious, I'm going to try making a taco casserole with it.

Still OS free, I had some bad cravings last night for something sweet, ended up abstaining and going to bed.

Hiya Jack!
Don't you need protein for all that running you do??!!
Nina-I am sure I heard that "program for living" business in aa, and I just turned it around to apply to the food in my life. Actually everything I share I learned from someone else, I'm sure of it!! NOW, applying and ADHEARING to it are the tall & tough orders at times! Now seriously, on another note, "positive thinking" and being acutely aware of what I think throughout the day has been *key to ANY and EVERY success I have had in many areas of my life since becoming aware of how my thoughts impact my life, my very existance.

Glad you are all here!!!

You can do it Monday, for me it will be my TOMORROW diet!
BTW I'm finally down one more pound, feeling great and still going strong. I hope you all are feeling just as well as I am and are all sugar free. Have a beautiful day everyone!

Good morning liveweyerd and good morning all!

I am feeling very strong, and very committed..I do NOT want to continue my life doing the "quick 40 routine". What I mean is there are many times in my life that I have taken off nearly 40 lbs, only to turn around 9 months later and have gained it right back.

THAT is insanity, and I know that I do not have to go back to that ODAAT.

Have a wonderful day ALL and keep on keeping on!!

Good morning all - woke with a sore throat and think I'm getting the flu but I am no less committed to remaining O/S free today.

Running through the cornfield yesterday, I realized something. It's NOT a cornfield! (this is Canada in April after all LOL) right now it's pretty bare but as I recall by the summer it will be full of sunflowers!

Jack - pass the canary drumstick, I need protein over here!

Good morning all.
Thought I would drop in before I head off to the gym.

Good to see you over here Liveweyerd. If you want to be added to the chart just give a shout out. If nobody else has volunteered to take the chart on while Jack is away I will do it but if someone else wants to do it just give a shout out.

Workout time. See you tomorrow.
