Here I am going strong and really happily surprised with myself. Last night was a pizza party after volleyball practice, wine was flowing which I refused no problem, but I was worried about the brownies and ice cream, I even thought to myself "oh well, after volleyball practice it's ok." But I ended up being able to say no to everything, fortunately no one became pushy telling me they had prepared all day with loving care just so that I would tell them how good it was, because I do have a tough time with that. It worked out well and I'm still OS sober! HOORAY!

I haven't been going to the gym this week like I should but at least I am sugar free so one out of two isn't too bad. Come Monday I will get back to the gym and keep at it hopefully until holiday time. It is nice to come and visit this sugar free zone. Has anybody ever posted here while indulging in OS? Honesty is the best policy. I have to say I haven't ----------yet.

Still OS free but I have to be honest and say that I'm over-indulging in other snacks. Last night I went 12 food points past the 27 points that I'm allowed daily on my Weight Watchers. I'm munching on dehydrated veggies, but they're still high in sodium and contain a small amount of fat. Haven't had too many cravings for the sweets, although I had a strong urge last night when my daughter was eating chocolate in front of me. Oh, and I thought it was nice that someone brought fresh bread to the AA meeting for a change. Ro, sugar-free jello is a yummy treat too!

| 27 points doesn't sound like much for a man. I get 23 points a day, and I'm not that fat.

I started with 29 points a day and weighed 200lbs. I'm currently weighing in at 171 and that drops my points to 27. I'm allowed 35 bonus points per week and I'm sure I'm using them. I'm not disappointed with my progress, in fact I'm really happy with my appearance and just want to lose another 6lbs or so and get busy with a regular exercise routine. My issue is that it's a constant mental battle. I'm hungry at certain times of the day, and if I have free time at night I eat because I'm bored. I'm just trying to find some balance and comfort, that's all.

It really does sound like everyone here is being honest and sticking with it, whether by remaining abstinent or by getting right back up to try again after a slip. We are progressing every day, as long as we keep on keepin' on. I am still OS free, as of today and just for today.

Good morning to all. I'm still sugar-free and it feels really good. My energy is better, I'm less bloated and lethargic. I am aware of being hungrier, though. I was actually able to fit into a pair of pants that were too tight in the midsection so that felt good. This really takes a lot of determination and discipline, though! It's not like alcoholism because, for me, there's no immediate consequence - I'm trying to stay present and remember why I am doing this, a day at a time. Thanks everyone for continuing to check in and to share your experiiences, it really helps me to read your posts.

I would like some group consciousness on what to do when someone doesn't check in...I used to go back to when they originally posted...PM them...offer support...and ultimately remove their name from the list. I don't think it's necessary to do that anymore. But, that is just my thinking. Other thoughts? Good morning. Checking in and going strong. Mt opinion on check in Jack is that if someone hasn't checked in in a week just remove them from the list. It is a big enough chore for you to keep the lisr without having to chase people that may or may not be interested around. A possible exception could be if someone reports in before hand stating that they will be away from their computer for more than a week. This is a great thing you are doing and I wouldn't want to see you give it up because it is becoming a bother. It really helps a lot of us stay fixated on not consuming I think.

I agree with the above posters. If they come back and ask to rejoin, they can give you their numbers and add them back. I appreciate what you do for us all, Jack and don't think you should have to chase someone down over the internet. However, I do appreciate you reaching out to someone who might be struggling and offering encouragement to rejoin the group. That's part of what we are about. A heartfelt thank you until you are better paid. May we all live in peace. Roxie |

Still going strong, what a surprise ! I didn't think I had it in me. Checking in daily seems to give me a little more incentive, sure hope it lasts !!! I think after a week you can probably take a name off the list. I plan on being gone 5 days next week, but I'll be sure and let you know before time. |

I think I did the same as yourself Jack for the spell when I was doing the count; after a while I would send a PM to any absentees, some replied and some didn't. Maybe they might be glad to be quietly omitted from the list, any time they are ready to try again then they will always be welcome. Poppy, saying about messy keyboards, my boy is banned from having food anywhere near the computer and many a time I make him wash his hands anyway before using it- the sticky mess he has left it in the past! Well I worked last night and there was a ton of things I wanted to do today, and none of them are done. The family have gone away for the weekend, working tonight will keep me in a healthy frame of mind for the weekend. I have noticed that my wife has left a huge chocolate bar in the cupboard, it's on my mind but hopefully a productive couple of days with plenty of exercise will keep me on the right path. Best wishes all.

| Still OS free ![]() Still munching uncontrollably on corn nuts and wasabi peas I feel like I've cross-addicted ![]() I'll try to work on my willpower over the weekend. Jack, thank you for your effort and service, the daily count is greatly appreciated and I'm sure we all find it helpful and inspirational. I agree that after a week absent you could take someone's name off the list, if they come back their info can be updated. Messy keyboards? I have to clean mine every week at the office as a result of the material I handle, but some of it is from the foods I eat. My son isn't allowed to take drinks or food near the PC's at home. He spilled a bottle of water on his stepdad's laptop and ruined it.

Jack, I also have to agree with Fub & the others. I think that a week without checking in and no notifications that they'll be gone more than a week, is sufficient enough time to believe that they aren't working this program for now. I do very muchly like how you did keep the name on the list at the bottom, though, showing anyone who might come back later, that they weren't ousted completely. No, I don't think that it's necessary to PM them, although I do remember getting one from you when I was absent for too long and it did make me feel good. However, it didn't make me ready to come back and resume my commitment, because I have to decide that inside of my own self, for myself. I have myself, left & come back several times, knowing where to come for the help that I needed when I was ready again. And you all have always welcomed me back with great support & understanding right when I needed it and was ready for it. (((((((((((((HUGS Jack)))))))))))))))))) for being the sincerely caring & giving person that you are and thank you again so much for keeping the list. That is a big responsibility all by itself and a great service that you are doing for the group.

Humm....I have done a lot of thinking about your question Jack. There was one time that I dropped off the list, and you reached out to me in such a heartfelt way that I was over come with gratitude that you cared enough to reach out and tell me I wasn't a horrible person, and that I should keep posting no matter what... In the past, I have seen how my "all or nothing-ism" can take me out completely. I am either "perfect" at it or I bash myself to death...For me, your PM was instrumental in helping me to come back "no matter what". It was a random PM/act of kindness that has helped me to stay connected through all my slips thereafter. I look at it as 12-step work. I am happy to be available to send PM's to those who are not actively participating... OK-now, onward! I am still centered, and dedicated to remaining OS free odaat!

Fub- I relate to that...but today I try to get more protein in, then I am not as tempted to snack, not hungry, and I can still lose weight....I have to watch the days that I only want to drink diet coke. To be really centered where food is concerned is an inside job for me. I have tons of work to do so I'll stay busy for sure! Have a great night all!

Not as much munching today, and still OS free. Weekends seem to be easier for me, I stay busy and don't eat out of boredom. Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone, goodnight.
