Based upon my experience, I agree with you. I try to reduce the amount of simple carbohydrates in my diet, so I limit the amount of grains and sugars that I consume. I feel like it has made such a difference in my emotional health - less up and down, etc and that being in a better place emotionally makes it "easier" to deal with addictive behaviors.

After years of experimenting with my food i have realised that white flour and sugar are a lethal combination for me so one day at a time i choose not to eat these substances. Being a recovering bulimic compulsive overeater i truly have to watch these foods as they for me create the physical craving that can lead me to bingeing. I do not find it hard to choose other foods that do not contain these substances so it is no way impossible, maybe sometimes a little bit more expensive but hey my recovery is worth it. Hope you don't find it to hard to choose other alternatives, most people do not realise that there are a whole host of foods that can be eaten that do not contain the substances that effect us on a daily basis. Hope it all goes well Love always

The three areas that Food Addicts Anonymous zeroes in on are wheat, flour and sugar. I have been off all three for 26 months and the cravings are long since gone. I no longer binge eat. I have gained a ton of energy. Lost tons of weight. My creativity has increased dramatically. Should I keep going on....

this is verfy interesting....i'd like to hear more if anyone continues to keep sharing...on what foods work best for you etc...I need help and am hoping to get nore information and suggestions here. Of course my sister is a fanatic about all this "stuff" so I have heard about the "wheat, flour and sugar" things etc. Even when I abstained from sugar and flour I was taking in a lot of wheat never knowing that maybe for me it's not ok...perhaps that has been part of my dimise lately? It sounds like a great over all plan, a great way of eating/living. I am grateful for any information I can get right now.

If you want to check it out here is the website for FAA. On it is a suggested food plan. Not a diet a food plan. The difference is this is what I will do for the rest of my life and happily so. Nor am I any more fanatical than a recovering alcoholic would be if he decided to stay away from alcohol in all its forms. I stay away from the food substances that are addictive to me.
