| Once more, I got a great article in my email, and wanted to share it with you all. I know emotional, especially stress, eating, is a big issue with me. So, I hope that this article can help me and others who share the same issues. Quote:
One thing I noticed, and never recognized before, was the behavior factor. Doing something different was something that helped when I quit smoking. And here it is being suggested again, instead of stress eating. Now, why didn't *I* think of that? ![]() Shalom! | |

| as always , Teach, thank you for more amazing info.... I have known for a little while now that I have been subsituting food for other things.. With an AD out there, over the last few years the stress has been unbelievable...and my emotional life , being an undiscovered-codie now that I have a solid recovery going, I am free to deal with my emotional eating....and of course, a good program to bring my body back in balance... As well as cutting out white flour, white sugar, watching fats, etc.. a good exercise program and supplements......I have been eating differently...not eating while reading , watching tv. no distractions etc...chewing lots, and putting my fork down when I feel that I have had enough...notice I did not say full....not eating anything I did not truly enjoy...and not feeling guilty about what I have left on my plate...can always reheat what I have found so far is that I am consciously choosing to put less food on my plate...and I am starting to enjoy eating again the simple way I felt as a kid about food . For a long time I have not enjoyed food because I was eating for all the wrong reasons... I have a long journey ahead of me but I feel that I am off on the right foot and I am learning to make peace with food... a really good book on emotionaI eating is: Shrink yourself by Dr. Roger Gould hugs, grateful |

| Thanks Teach! My problem is, I'm usually the most stressed when I'm at work, and I work in a restaurant, so am surrounded by food. I always grab the easiest and fastest thing to eat (I wait tables), but will try eating a salad instead tonight. I work nights, sleep days, so when I get to work I'm usually starving. The article got me to thinking, though, and I'm thinking if I go in early enough to eat and enjoy a salad, at least I won't be grabbing at everything in sight Hugs and prayers! Amy |
