Hello Maureen First I would like to welcome you to out forum here. I'm sorry I have not gotten back to you before now, but I was trying to locate the OA site that I had seen online sponsers available. I know they are out there, and I did have one saved in my favorites, but some reason I am unable to locate either one currantly. I will though. It has now become a mission. So please hang tight and I will post the link when I find it. Or some one else will if htey beat me to it. If you happen to run acrossed one in your own search, could you do me a favor and post it here also. Meanwhile, you are most welcome to post here; we have a great group of people that give lots of support. have good one, Pony

Many thanks for that, I really appreciate it. And I will certainly let you know if I come across any websites with sponsors! I am doing really well at the moment, by eating has settled into three meals a day since joining OA - it's not been like that for years. Now I am going to have to try and address the CONTENT of the meals and start exercising in order to lose some weight! But I KNOW I have found the answer in the programme - it really DOES work! I'm so happy!

Ok Maureen, bet you thought I forgot. Nope, I just haven't had much time on the computer lately. Here it is: www.overeatersanonymous.org that has references to online sponsors. Also this one has some interesting reading and links to other info. It's: www.focusas.com/eatingdisorders.html Let me know if any of those have helped any. Pony

Hey Pony, I just tried to locate that info about the online sponsors and couldn't get through. I sent a note to WSO but if someone else has a way to get there could you please let me know. I don't know why but I feel so ashamed about my eating and just feel that maybe I could tell someone that I don't have to look face to face with about my food at first instead of a living breathing in real life and presence person. Does anyone else feel that way or am I being a coward? |

No you are NOT a coward!!!!! I know, for myself, that's why I'm on here....a forum that all I do is talk/post to people that I have never met face to face. Here we can all be completely honest and no-one knows who we are. It's kind of like really getting to know the real person, or letting them get to know the real you, without the hang ups of visual perspective. You know? The only thing I miss is not giving a real life hug to those who deserve or need one. I'm a very physically affectionate person who does not have a problem hugging someone who needs one. I will try to look into the link and see if it works for me. It did when I put it there ...... ???? Pony

Srepty, I know exactly how you feel - it's so much easier, the thought of talking to people online rather than face-to-face, because of the shame, guilt and disgust that we feel about our eating. I have been attending an OA group for the past 10 weeks, but I don't feel comfortable in asking any of them to be a sponsor - that's why I am looking for an online sponsor! Plus, I find it difficult to phone people from the meeting - I guess I just find it hard to ask for help. But doing it like this, online, feels so much easier, because I haven't got a clue who u am speaking to - and vice versa - so I can just say anything about anything! My eating is all over the place at the moment - some days not too bad, other days mad!! I am going on holiday next week (yikes) and am dreading the eating part and coming back even bigger!! But I know when I do come back, I have got to do something different, my life has got to change in some way - I shall ponder these changes whilst I am away, and do another post upon my return.

Maureen, I know it can be difficult to watch what your eating while your traveling, so don't worry about it so much. Just enjoy your time and maybe it will take care of it's self. We would love to hear from you when you get back and let us know what a great time you had!!!!! I hardly get to get away, so I have to live through other's vacations. lol Pony

Hi Maureen and everybody, I hope you have a great vacation. Try not to obsess too much about the food stuff just enjoy yourself. I am not getting a vacation this year and last years I was trying to fix my house so I could move in. I want to go somewhere and get away from all this craziness but it will have to wait for now anyway. I still have not had the courage to do much planning as far as what my plan of action will be for my food. Hopefully I will get a chance to do some of it Sunday because I have to work the long 12 hour shift as usual tommorow and after those I caan't do much of anything. Well take care everybody! |
