Trying to pull myself up

I walked for five minutes yesterday.

Walked for ten minutes this morning first thing after getting dressed.

Trying to take some baby steps forward. Have been really struggling and spiraling down re eating and exercise. Got out of the habit of walking following sinus surgery about six weeks ago (gen. anesthesia), shortly before Christmas. Have been floundering in the mudhole every since.

The short days, very cold days, low angle of sun, and hormone lack are taking a toll and I want to turn things around. Have been snacking uncontrollably and doesn't seem to be anything to take its place.

In spite of major steps backward and what is probably mild depression or lack of hormones, I made myself do one positive thing this a.m. and that was walk on the treadmill for ten minutes. I intend to do it every day and gradually increase my time. Today I knew I could do five minutes, but I easily did ten and that is great.

Well done Nea. Every little step, however small they seem keep the fire burning. I do a lot of walking and even do a little bit of jogging. This is the third week of jogging and i increase it every time, today was four times as much as when i started-and i feel better when i finish than i did a few weeks ago.

Hey, that's a GREAT start, Nea!!!
Have you seen the post on walking yet? It's here on the ED forum. Take a look; I think you'll find it interesting.
In the meantime, snacking isn't a bad thing. Indeed, we should all snack to keep our blood sugar level. It's *what* we snack on that makes all the difference in the world. Here's some healthy, and delicious ideas:

Thanks so much for your quick responses and encouragement!
Historyteach, those snack ideas are super. I hadn't thought of cottage cheese on rice cakes and that appeal to me especially for soem reason. Cottage cheese on crackers, etc. is a great idea, and easy to put together.

A major aspect I need to address is getting off sugary snacks to healthier ones and that list is helpful. Just like I'm starting exercising in baby steps I can do the same with eating; make myself at least one healthy snack each day.

Thanks again.
