| same planet...different world | ok. here's one ...
... a week ago today - I quit 'obvious' sugars. I called 'em 'blatant' sugars but still. I'm also really really struggling with stopping smoking. Noticed something. As the days progressed - the desire ... or the 'habitual' reach for a smoke - decreased. And .. there's been less ... urgency when there HAS been a 'tug' for a smoke. the two connected?

Hi Barb. That's very interesting. I really hope that it is connected so that you continue to simultaneously lose your cravings for both sweets and cigarettes. I have never smoked so I can't comment on this. I'm sure that others will be here to share with you soon. Keep up the great progress, one day at a time. (((((((((((((Support Hugs))))))))))))))))

Don't know either Barb but interesting all the same. I have a sweet tooth but never smoked and my wife smokes 20/30 every day and also has a sweet tooth. If she decides to cut out sweet foods i will have to see, hope it continues for you anyway.

Well, I've been a BIG TIME smoker, (over three packs a day at my worst). But, I've never been a big sweet eater. It doesn't bother me to have one piece of chocolate, for example. Or, when I *did* have my, (monthly--sorry guys, lol!), I had one chocolate bar; a frozen snickers. That's gone now... So, I too, cannot comment truthfully. ![]() I look forward to hearing more. Shalom!

I have smoked in the past and in the last year have noticed that my body does not tolerant sugar the way it used to.When I have very little or no sugar, I feel much clearer. sugar is definitely a drug and affects our brain chemistry...Sugar Blues by Duffy, forgot his first name is a real eye opener. So i am thinking if you cut down on sugar, that has a positive impact on your brain chemistry and so it might follow you would be in a better space brain chemistry wise to deal with smoke urges...does this make any sense? grateful

I'm hanging in ... barely ... but definitely there's something to the whole sugar thing. Somebody tried to get me to go off sugar early in my sobriety and my attitude was 'what - you on crack????? I'm worried about DRINKING here ...' *sigh* I wonder about the whole Elvis thing - LOL get the doc to put me in a COMA for thirty days and see what happens. my luck - I'd wake up sleepy and that'd be it.
