| just wanted to say thank you...
Thank you for the warm welcomes. Since I don't drink alcohol anymore when I get "drunk" emotionally I've been eating. I've paid attention to the posts here and tried the "novel" concept of "just for today" today. I was shocked to notice a difference. Each time I experienced a food craving I told myself "just for today I am going to abstain". It really is so similar to my experience in AA....only, this is a whole lot harder for me to stay sober. I am doing on-line Weight Watchers and it just wasn't getting it until I added the just for today. I've ordered a food addict's daily meditation book and look forward to having that. Also, I got the 12 steps for food addiction. My emotions definitely trigger my eating.....at night I get bored and then that is when it has all fallen apart. I think that I need to go and brush my teeth and just go to bed. I'm thrilled to have one day of "food sobriety" - it's been a really really really long time. Does it eventually get easier? Do the cravings begin to subside? Thanks - Donna

I have taken it a step deeper... just for this meal I will eat correctly. For me... some foods not only became easier but I started to notice a difference in food tastes. No chips for over 6 months and when I ate one, one day... Wow those things are loaded with salt. Did the same with sugars and when I ate a plain bagle one day, I realized just how much sugar can be in them. Can be an eye opener at times.

Best - I am really really looking forward to that day when I can do that. It does help to break it down into even smaller pieces - like just for this meal. Thanks! Donna
