| Member | Let's talk withdrawals
The morning of day four and I feel totally nauseous. I have a headache again and no energy though as I can't remember the last time I had an iron tablet (I don't eat meat) that's probably not helping. I was reading about withdrawals last night and sadly didn't find a huge amount on sugar, but found a lot on alcohol. I could relate to a lot of the symptoms including the hallucinations. Really weird on day two and three I could see little white coins dropping out the corners of my eyes. You gotta wonder why I'd put the stuff into my body when its so bad for me. Oh the disease, I know it. Anyhow, anyone going through withdrawals too please write here. And for those doing good, any tips on how to get through the withdrawals and the cravings would be great! |

Hi Gambaru, i find that having plenty of fruit, low fat yoghurts and natural fruit bars keeps my cravings away and helps in that i like to snack. Best wishes as it sounds tough.

Thanks. Almonds are also good. Must buy some tomorrow. Today is day four so I don't know if you therefore count me as 3 days abstinent or 4 as the day isn't complete yet. On the plus side, I just found some chocolates from some stockings I made for my customers. I threw them straight into the bin. I don't need them!! |

I read a book that another member recommended some time ago called Potatoes Not Prozac. It has a lot of helpful info in it about sugar withdrawl & about how sugar effects your physical & mental self. The first time I quit sugar, the withdrawl was pretty bad. I had a lot of nausea & even diarrhea. I had headaches & fatigue. I remember that day 4 was my worst day. I believe it did say that in the book as well. It was true. Please know that it will get better from here. I do not remember it lasting more than 6-7 days, with each day after day 4 getting better. There is hope. You are on the right track. Congratulations as well for throwing the chocolate away. You are doing great!!

Thanks SSP. I'll keep an eye out for that book. Trying to avoid amazon at the mo! I had a good healthy lunch and now I'm just restless but tired. What a combination. Because of an injury, I can't exercise which may put me out of my misery but will go the gym tomorrow. You know that feeling when the light bulb gets switched back on again and you wonder why on earth you let yourself get back to that unhealthy spot? That's how I'm feeling now. Ugh!! |

It sounds as if you are on the right track eventhou you feel like ick. Just keep doing the next right thing and before you know it it's passing by and your feeling better. Stay focused on your plan moment to moment and the future will take care of it's self. I do think proteins and water are very important to flush through the toxins out of your system

Hope you are feeling a bit better now, it will be worth it. As far as the count goes, i understand it to be up to the last full day.

I know that a book called "The Sugar Blues" talks a lot about sugar withdrawals. It's a book from a long time ago, but I'd bet that you can Google it and you'd be able to read a lot of what it says. Or you could probably just Google " sugar withdrawal". I would do it but I don't have enough time right now, but maybe later. I'll come back later to talk, but I just snuck on here for a moment.

Nina - Please don't go to any efforts just for me. I'd done some reading before but thought I'd throw the question out there in case anyone had anything they wanted to share. Today is the end of day four and I feel good. I was at home today so could have my big meal at lunch meal and then didn't need dinner. This kind of eating definitely agrees with me. Will wake up tomorrow with that great empty stomach feeling so I'm happy! |
