| addicts and their emotions
Hi I have a question... My questions is, if your addict how well are you connected to your emotions and how deep can an addict go emotionally?? I am a food addict, was bulimic and I would like to recover, but I wonder what this addiction is hiding and if I can handle the answer when I stop my addiction. :p Komodo |

Hi and welcome to SR - I don't have an easy answer to your question. All I can do is share my experience with you. I am a recovering drug addict who was not in touch with my emotions for years. Through the programs of AA/NA and working the 12 steps I have been able to not use drugs for almost 8 years now. I learn on a daily basis how to deal with my emotions as they arise, it is not always easy, but it is better than getting loaded. I would suggest that you reach out to a program in your area. Check your local phone book and see what you can find. SR is a great place for friendship and support and I am really glad you found us.
