| Help!!
Hi all, I recently had all my bottom teeth removed and am struggling to find healthy ways to eat while my gums heal. I've got a full denture but basically cannot chew at all. I've been eating soup and a lot of junk. Any suggestions on how to eat well during this crummy time? I just got a blender so that'll help. I don't see myself eating solid food ever again. I'm a big baby when it comes to pain. Anyway... just wanted to throw it out there and see if anyone has been in my situation and how they got through it. Mike |

Well Mike, I've not been through your situation as yet, and I thought that others would be along to hel you out with their experience with this, but since no one has yet, I'll try a few little suggestions. How about pudding and jello. They do make sugar-free and they're good for you. Yogurt? All of the drinks like Ensure and their are other brands too. Of course, as you've mentioned there are soups of all kinds that you don't have to chew. I've heard before that you can take just about any meal that you've cooked and put it in the blender and it will be chopped up so fine that it's practically liquid, so that way you're getting the same foods but you don't really have to chew them. Oatmeal, cream of wheat, malt-o-meal? You can put all of the fruits in your blender to make fruit drinks and you can do vegetables. How about a V-8? Just try to get creative. Let us know what all you can come up with. You never know when someone here might be in the same boat. Maybe even me?!?! I know that my time will come soon enough and I'll need your ideas and experience. Maybe some of the others will come up with some ideas soon. Good Luck.

Thanks Nina! I'm going with oatmeal tomorrow morning. Tonight we tried putting chicken in the blendr. it worked, but wasn't the greatest. Oh, well. V-8 is a great idea, and I'm looking on line for some ways to make good tasting vegetable smoothies. Fruit, too, but I still gotta be careful about the sugar. Thanks so much for responding. Mike |

I would agree with the pudding & jello thing. My teeth are ALL bad & crumbling from bulimia. I understand how tooth pain is, believe me. I don't know if you have an ED , because I am new here. But if you do or have, please be careful. Stuff like illness or anything that makes me limit eating triggers me back into anorexia.

Hey Mike, I don't know if I should respond after the BoSox swept the ChiSox (just kidding) but about half of my daily intake is a 48oz blender made up of: 20 oz cold water 1 c oatmeal 1/4 c protein powder 1/4 nuts almonds or walnuts or pecans 1 banana 1 peach 1 pear Blend it for a minute or two to taste. |
