Ya know, counting calories is easy. Oh, we have to do some basic math, and maybe fudge on the amounts of this or that, but, it's basic. If I eat X, it has Y amount of calories. How do you figure carbs? I'm pre-diabetic, and they say carbs are the important thing. So, I take a look at eating the same X as above. And it states that X has Y % of carbohydrates. Ok, percent of WHAT? Daily recommended? How much *is* the recommended? Is it cumulative? Like if I have two pieces of bread to make a sandwich, is the 6% doubled to 12%? What if we have less than the recommended? Or is it something else. I have no freakin clue, and it's important due to the pre-diabetes notice from the doc. By the way, I love cheeseburgers, beer and fried clams.... any wonder why I'm pre-diabetic? ![]() It's not fair... Any help out there? Shalom!

Hey there! I too am prediabetic. I don't think there's any set number of carbs to shoot for... it's my understanding that it's in the type of carbs, things like eating whole grain bread instead of white, eating fruit instead of candy, things like that. Did your doctor put you on metformin or anything to help control your insulin level? I'll tell you that once I started taking it, if I was eating the wrong kinds of foods, my body would definitely let me know, if ya know what I mean. I'm so glad there's someone else on here with prediabetes. Not that I'm glad that you have it, but it's nice to not feel quite so alone in it anymore.
