Foods Plans

Hi all

Theres alot going on here at the moment that relates to food plans and its great to see, i have used a food plan since day 1 of coming into the rooms of OA and have been in recovery for many years but i just want to say that a food plan is only ONE tool of recovery and used on its own is just a diet, and for me i tried twenty years of dieting before coming into recovery and each one eventually failed as they did not address the underlying issues as to why i overate.

Today i use my food plan in conjunction with the other tools of the program as well as working the steps. I have a great sponsor who has had many years of recovery in another fellowship and she keeps me sane by not co-signing my bull****. She challenges my stinking thinking and keeps me focused on working the steps in my life. I know that i will always struggle with lifes problems because i find life hard but thats okay today, i don't give into the poor me's like i used to and get into action.

Recovery is available to me today because i challenge my honesty, i check my food in with another recovering member of OA who knows what my trigger foods are and is able to spot problem areas before they become relapse. I don't always like to be told about problems with my food but i asked her be my sponsor as i knew she worked a tough program and thats what i need. I am a con artist and can justify my way out of anything but for today i choose to surround myself with people who are not yes people, i've had alot of them in my life before recovery and they along with my own actions kept me in the desease.

I choose life today not just existence and that meant letting go of the people in my life who were not willing to support my battle with the food, you know what i mean the ones who offer you a slab of chocolate cake when you've told them you no longer eat the stuff. My recovery today is the most important thing in my life, without it i have no life and i will go to any lengths to keep it.

So heres to skipping along the path of recovery with people who are happy to join and support me.

What a wonderful post! I'm just starting to learn what my triggers are, and really found inspiration in knowing that gaining the knowledge really does make the difference! Thank you!
