I'm sorry that you and your XAH are not together anymore. But you have to want to lose the weight for you. If you stay in this mindset you will just keep gaining. Try buying healthier foods, and replace your night snacks with healthy things like fruit or yogurt. I was a nutritional counselor, and It can be hard to stay healthy when you feel depressed. But you have to realize that you are in control of yourself. Stand up and be proud of that. The anger you feel towards yourself will lessen when you chose to stop overeating .One of the best ways to help with depression is to improve your quality of life, and that has a huge portion to do with what you eat. Your in my thoughts and prayers.

Have you thought about going to therapy? You may also want to start a journal
and try writing in that when you wake up at night and are lonely instead of eating.
You've already identified the problem, your trying to use food to fill the void,
but it never does, hence the weight gain. Try journaling to get those feelings out.

Oprah.com has a great online private journal. That's what I would try. and keep posting, that may help.

Not really, if you shop right it's the same or cheaper than buying sweets and
all the other stuff. If you have a Trader Joes around you, they are the best
for cheap and healthy things.

In the regular grocery stores I try and stay out of the aisles. You can get most
of what you need by shopping on the outside and that's where the healthier
things are.

Or if you want pre portioned cheap meals, the lean cuisine and all of those meals
are cheap and somewhat healthy and low in calories.

Depending on what you like and your lifestyle you can find ways to eat cheap
and healthy. It just takes some planning.

Another good site to check out is Fitday.com it's a free food diary site, it keeps track of EVERYTHING.... It's great!

eating right doesn't have to be expensive. Switching to whole wheats in bread and pasta. Buying more fruits and vegetables and getting low calorie and low fat snacks help. I eat healthy and actually spend less then I did when I ate whatever I wanted to. Also, drink lots of water, low fat milk, and juices. And my last tip is to eat three meals a day. Just watch your portion sizes and you should do great. But remember food can only help you lose so much weight. Exercising is another way to get you out of a slum. It boost endorphines to help you feel better about yourself as well. Hope I was of any help.

Hey Kermit ((hugs))... man. I can really feel the pain you are in.

I have lost my entire body weight, I think, at one time or another. 40 pounds here... 60 pounds there. And then gained back the entire amount and THEN some.

You know when I don't eat? When I drink. I hardly ever overate then.

When I gamble... nope, not then, either.

When I take percoset.... nope - in fact it was noticeable to me that I didn't snack in the evenings.

So... If I look at that - I see my three biggest addictions. And I didn't eat.

It occurs to me that SOME NEED was getting met during those other addictions. Something about my drinking, using and gambling FILLED something in my brain that said "eat".

So I started treating my overeating like an addiction. So far, all I've been able to do is become abstinant from sugar (any sugar, sucrose, fructose, etc. in the first five listed ingrediants). I did that in March and something happened - I stopped over eating on small things... you know, the look through the kitchen cabinets over and over looking for "something" that satified? I just stopped that entirely once I gave up sugar.

It has been about 2 months, and I've lost 25 pounds. Not a LOT of weight, but a significant change. I also started working out at Curves 3 to 4 times a week.

I feel much better, and I am not counting anything or making hardly any other major eating changes.

Sugar just seems to trigger additional eating for me.

Just FYI. ((hugs))
