Was doing good

I was put on a medication that is suppose to help with Bulima..I was doing really good. I wasn't eating much..However, I hadn't binge and purge for several days. Perhaps over a week had gone by without me doing this.
I do not know why, but yesterday I ended up binging and purging..I wished I knew why I do this...Then I had seen an urgent care doctor because I came down sick with strep-throat..He tells me to just stop the cutting etc...and then I will not sick so much...How can I even stop, when I have no idea why I even do it? It is not has if I plan to do these things..I just wish that someone would understand this.

Have you asked the doctor what triggers bulimia and cutting?

They know you, perhaps they have gleaned something from your previous visits that they would be willing to share with you.

Hi, karlee. I definitely understand, as I've struggled with eating disorders for 11 years. I'm anorexic and bulimic. I've been in and out of treatment more time than I can count. Now that I'm sober, my ED seems especially bad. Are you seeing an eating disorder specialist? A therapist who specializes in EDs can be extremely helpful. Have you read the book "Life without Ed?" It's a great book to give you some perspective on your ED. Have you looked into any residential or day programs? Your insurance may cover your treatment. I totally relate to your frustration. I get so mad at myself when I binge and purge. Be proud of yourself for going a whole week without binging and purging. That's awesome! If I could go for a day without binging and purging, I would be thrilled. Please keep posting... I'm usually on the newcomers board for alcoholics, but it is so good to hear from someone with an ED.
