| Using Dream - Whoda Thunkit?
I've had using dreams before - had a doozy when I quit drinking, and had to be up for a while the next day before I could convince myself I had not gone back out. But a few nights ago, I had a using dream about CHOCOLATE!! I dreamt that someone gave me some sort of foil wrapped chocolate, that I presumed was sugar-free... until I put it in my mouth. Just as I was pushing my teeth through that creamy chocolate, I realized it had SUGAR... and thought, "Oh my God, what will I tell the folks at SR?..." Then I finished eating it. I felt guilty that I didn't spit it out. I didn't remember the dream when I awoke, but remembered it during the day... and then had to struggle to remember if it was a dream or real. It was just a dream. And I recognize it for what it is... a using dream, pretty common among those getting sober. Just didn't expect it when I gave up sugar.

I've had one of those before having to do with sweets, but I've forgotten the details. I just remembered experiencing that before when I read your post. It really makes you realize how serious the problem that we have is, doesn't it?! It's scarey what a strong hold that this addiction has on us. I'm so glad that you shared this with us, Big Sis. It IS really hard to give up sugar, but we are doing great, just for today. What we get out of this trade-off is really so worth it, isn't it?! I think that's what we have to keep thinking about. Not what we're giving up, but what we're getting in return. By the way, dreams don't count and they don't harm us. So they're free !!!! Keep on keepin' on and you'll be glad you did. I know that I will. ((((((((((((Encouraging Hugs)))))))))))))))))

That's funny lol I have dreams like that. Not about sugar, but about food I'm not supposed to eat. I always wake up hungry, and then laughing. Sorry if you don't find it funny. Good luck to you. Heather |

No apologies! I also found this to be very funny... hell, LIFE is very funny. But I also need to just talk about some of this stuff... with folks who understand. ((hugs))

BigSis, did you give a sigh of relief when you realized it was a dream? I've had "cleaning" themed dreams lately and sheezopete was I exhausted when I first woke up: Dreamed I was a teacher in an elementary school and it was the end of the school year so we had to clean up our rooms. There were TONs of dishes all over and all the teachers were getting the giant dishwashers in each room filled up. As fast as I could fill the huge dishwasher, there were even more dishes to do! Haaaa! I woke up feeling very harried and weary. When I realized it was a dream, I lay there in total relief and didn't get up for a while, LOL. Wouldn't it be nice if when we had a craving we could just go take a short nap and dream up our favs foods and get over it. Here's hoping your chocolate dream took away the urge. Nea |
