| 1st Step - Keeping a Food Journal
The purpose of this thread is to log a daily food journal for two weeks, only. The start is Sunday, March 4th through Saturday, March 17th. This is a suggestion through the book, Potatoes, not Prozac. I want to identify obvious sweets and sugars in my diet, as well as other unhealthy eating I may do. Please join me, if you can, as I need the experience, strength and hope of others on this thread. Thanks. |

Wow Jack, I think that this is very brave of you and I'm glad that you're doing it. I can sure see how it would help. I'm sorry that I can't join you on it right now, for several reasons, but I'm sure that others will. Or at least I hope they do. I would like to follow your progress when I can. You are really working on your recovery. That is so impressive.

Hey Jack, thanks for the reminder. I just started back keeping a food/exercise journal today. I write down the food and what time I am eating it and keeping track of my exercise activity. I am keeping track of the times because of my erratic schedule. I am hoping that it will help me to remember to eat or at least plan to eat more during the day. I get caught up with working and I don't eat all day long and then I eat all night long. So maybe this will help me to consciously think about making me a lunch to take with me. Then I won't overeat at night.

They can copy and paste yours and then fill in their own info. I just did that. Then could do the same throughout the day if they wanted to or post it all at once at the end of the day. Hi W40, glad to see you here. When I copy and paste I click and hold the cursor and run it over what I want to copy (so it selects/darkens it), let go then click <control 'c'>, go to my post, click the cursor so I can see in the box, then click <control 'v'>. Don't know if that's clear or not. S-Jack, when you make your smoothies with the oats, do you put in already cooked oatmeal or is it just raw oats? Sounds like a very good smoothie. I haven't made them before but am thinking I will try making some smoothies. I do like bananas and that would be good in one. Thanks. |

Date: BF Time:10 Food:breakfast drink Bev:coffee SNK Time:none Food: Bev: Lunch Time:1 Food:salad Bev:water w/lemon Snack Time:None Food: Bev: Dinner Time: 6 Food:2 hamburgers at Sonic (sinful) Bev:Water Snack Time:10 Food:meal replacement Bev: Yes the burgers were off diet. I feel I probably broke even for the day because I worked at the Gym extra. Do the burgers count as a slip in the 100 day sugar deal? I am feeling like I just lost a long tough fight. ALL muscles hurt. Ibuprophen helps a little. Oxycontin would do the trick but I REALLY do not need another addiction to deal with. I am content the machines at the Gym are exercising muscles that have lain dormant since childhood. I do about 20 different machines three sets of fifteen reps. I am not using very heavy weights since we are dealing with an old inactive geezer that would like to condition himself, not induce a coronary. I made a mile and a half on the treadmill and came home and mowed the lawn. (No I did NOT use the riding mower) :>) The cut and -aste worked---thanks Neagrm. Later Ray |

This would probably be a good exercise for me to join in on to see how much I eat a day, fom an undereating view. But, first, I also wanted to tell everyone I'm reading everyone's posts on here and it looks like everyone is doing a great job for the most part! A big congratulations to everyone!! This is a good step to be taking. Good to put it in writing and be aware of what you've done for the day. I'm hoping that the things I read that you guys are eating will inspire me to explore new foods/meals because I am suuuuper picky! Date: 3-6-07 BF Time:9 am Food: Plain Bagel w/ cream cheese Bev: Orange Juice SNK Time: None. Food: Bev: Water Lunch Time: 1 pm Food: Turkey/Cheese sandwich w/ chips (Ruffles Light). Bev: Water Snack Time: None. Food: Bev: Water Dinner Time: 6:45 pm Food: BBQ Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Corn Bev: Apple Juice Snack Time: 8pm - 10 pm Food: Grapes, Goldfish crackers, small amount of ice cream, Apple. Bev: Water, water, water. I have to eat a lot before I go to sleep to make sure I stay full enough to sleep throughout the night. Ugh. Does it sound like I ate enough like a normal person, cause it looks like I ate like a regular person but I still have no appetite or get too hungry. |

Twice slices of bread, turkey, cheese, mayo. No lettuce or tomato (yuck). I don't eat the crusts of the bread. The chicken w/ dinner was like 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs. (Normally I only eat breasts, but the breasts come out a little dry when we BBQ them in the oven, so we use thighs.) Oh yeah, and I eat Jello in the morning when I first wake up. It helps me get used to having food in my mouth and kick start me in the morning for my day. I eat it and check my e-mail and check the responses on here. |
