| Hi, i'm still new to this whole getting clean issue & i was wondering if there's anyone who like me has recently stopped using dope & now have a fear of gaining weight??? I feel as if all my jeans are getting tight on me & it's not the tight-feeling from just getting washed & they'll slowly get worn in. I'm getting really upset!!!!! I mean, it's not like i'm eating cake & just junk that obviously make a person gain weight. & i'm not fat to say the least, but i feel like i've gained a few pounds & just wish the warm weather would come so i could make good use of walking outside w/the dog & going down to the beach. I'm like 5'6" & probably weigh like 135 lbs. & when i tell my boyfriend about the way i feel, he says i could put on like 15 extra pounds & he actually wants me to. I cringe @ that thought. But, this April snow storm that's come out of the blue just depresses me & the fact that i've been @ my house in the last 2 wks. has just got me in this blah state of mind. I haven't had this much "home-time" in awhile & it's just weird. I want summer to hurry up & just be here. WHen i talk to my boyfriend who's down in Florida, he just complains about the heat & i just get so envious. UGH!!!!! I signed up for a month of tanning & that makes me feel a little better about myself. Hey, any little bit that helps right??? Well, hope everyone has a great day |

BetterDayz, Welcome to this forum. Mostly all of us here have experienced the same feeling with trading one addiction for another. Really to know if you are having a food problem it's important to be in touch with your feelings and aware of your actions. What I mean is; Do you find yourself going to the kitchen and looking through the frig. or cupboards for something...???...anything to pass the time? Do you go looking for something to fill the void of empty space or feel upset and want something to comfort you? It doesn't have to be cookies or cakes or candy; there are other foods that if eaten in excess or even at wrong time of day (like at night before bed) can lead to weight gain. By your description of yourself you don't sound overweight, but I can understand your concern to not allow yourself to get there either. You need to pay attention to your feelings on the matter, but also have some real common sense about your health and body type. You know what you are happy with. My opinion would be to get some facts/education on health and exercise's that you can do inside until the weather gets better for you. It may be just a case of not getting out and doing what you would do in good weather or it could be foods that you have eaten that just tend to make your body retain more water weight. Either way again welcome and post some more. Looking forward to seeing more from you. Pony

| Hi Kidponyexpress-- Thank you very much for replying to my post as well as welcoming me to the forum. Your answers provided me with different ways of looking @ my situation & despite the snowy/cold April snow storm the East just got hit with, maybe i might do some indoor excersises to help me feel better about myself. B/C like you said it could just be the blah mood i've been in due to not having the warm weather yet!!! It sounds a little crazy but it's true. Take care & have a great day |

No, you are sounding crazy.....I have heard that in areas where it is hard hit with rain and snow for months at a time that depression is at a very high rate. I can see why. But if you can somehow make your indoors more active and cheery place it might help defend against that. So turn up the heat, get on those shorts, crank the music and start shaking your boody to the beat.....and there you have it!! lol just a thought! Ok so I'm a little nuts......it helps sometimes :tongue3: Hugs

Hi Kidponyexpress!!!!! LOL about your post!!!!!!:shades: ![]() Goin' nuts is fine w/me..........it not only help sometimes, it helps out alot of the time!!!!!!!! So, maybe that's why i always suggest me & my boyfriend move out to SOuthern Cali or Florida?!?!?! It could be my conscious telling me, warm weather will make me feel better about myself + i'll be outdoors more, so i'll take part in activities where i can excercise w/out even realizing it. Well, take care & have a great day. |

| hi betterdayz
welcome welcome welcome. we all have issues. i live in CA and it doesn't always help. lately i haven't had the energy to take my early morning walk. i set the alarm but then reset it. just no motivation. i had a bit of a different situation. i lost around 100lbs when i quit using. i decided to change the way i looked at everything. some of the folks in this forum know that i now have a whole new eating disorder. i purge a bit. it's been a problem for me. but when we get to identifying our triggers it helps. actually had a good day today. my food comsumption was down and no urges. my boyfriend is out of town and i kind of miss him. trying not to let that be a trigger. anyway welcome home better.........

Welcome BetterDayz. This reply is not in regard to food. I live in the midwest, Missouri. It was 80 last week and then it was snowing. I am sooo ready for winter to be over. But guess what, this nasty weather just makes me appreciate the nice weather better. Just keep coming back, write all you want. We are here to listen. |
