How can I be so happy and down

I am soo happy about the progress I am making in my gambling addiction its like since I came clean with it the urge really isn't there and if it comes I can self talk.. Yet on the other hand my trying to loose weight is driving me nuts.. I haven't eaten anything in two days and still the scale has barely dropped today 109 I need to take it off.. Water is all I am allowing myself.. so why wont it come off. I am getting soo upset with it.. I have 13 days to get the other nine pounds off.. Ughghhgh...

Hello Chey,

When we stop putting food in our bodies, they shut down many processes in order to conserve fuel. When no food is added, all you will be loosing is lean muscle, not fat. Fat comes off very slowly. The body will digest lean muscle in order to have energy for things like sitting up, walking around, thinking, breathing, heart beats, smiling, talking, the process of digestion itself and anything else you can think of. Everything we do requires fuel. Sorry to be so graphic, however, this is a biological reality. Your body is asking you, in the only way it can, to do something for it, which is eat.

Please let me know what happens next.

Peace,

firefly

Chey

I have to agree with Firefly. If you don't feed your body food it does't want to work the way that it was designed to.

If you know anything about children who live in abusive homes, they go into what called "survival mode". Well that's what your body does. If you don't give it food, you are abusing it, starving it. And it will go into that survival mode to keep on doing what it's supposed to, LIVE!

I do hope you think about some of these things, because what you are doing is life threatening.

Well we'll keep you in prayers, and please keep posting let us know how you're doing.

Chey,

I'm sorry to hear your struggling this way. It's true when you don't eat your body will burn less calories because of survival mechanisms. Try to find a counselor and talk about these things. I'm sure you know that what you are doing is damaging to you physically. You need to get some help. These boards are good, but you definitely need to be talking with a person trained in helping people with eating disorders. Please try to find someone before you end up in the hospital.
