looking for help with food

Hi there

I'm an alcoholic with 12 years sobriety. My food has steadily been an increasing concern. Having listened to a few OA speakers I feel it's time to reach out. Any body out there?

Hi strathead,
I was sober for 6 months when I found a wonderful 12-step program called Recovery From Food Addiction (RFA). I have been abstinent from sugar, flour and wheat for about 15 1/2 months and as a result of working my program of recovery, I have lost 110 pounds to date. That is a miracle for a food addict like me! If you haven't read this book yet, check out a book by Kay Sheppard called "From the First Bite" and let me know if you have any questions or just want to talk.

I really believe that I have a food addiction also. I am working on recovery and living a healthier life style.

I go to Weight watchers, which is a wonderful support group for myself. They have on-line support as well as going to face to face meetings. It has helped me tremendously.

I too have a food addiction and have been going to weight watchers. I never relized how much I was eating and how bad it was for me until I learned protion sizes and wow it really hit me. The F2F WW meetings are great and give you something to be acountable too. This forum has the best support so keep posting .

Welcome strathead. I'm so glad that you found SR. Everyone here is always so supportive and very encouraging. There is alot of information here and you'll find alot of it in the Stickys section above. Just keep coming back here and reading and posting and let us get to know you better. We'll walk this road of recovery together, so that we don't ever have to fight this battle alone again.

By the way, Congrats on 12 years of sobriety !!! That is such a great feat !!!
