| I am a gambaler
Hi! My name's Aldo and I'm a gambler! (and a recovering alcoholic) I used to gamble allot before but then I quit for 6 or 7 years. I've reccently (past 10 days) started playing the slot machines again. I've lost 2 or 3 times and I've had one win. Today I put $15 into a machine and I was winning $20 (net profit). Then I lost all that and put in another $120 - it was all I had with me Due to my alcoholism I know this is a great site and everybody's so supportive on here. So I guess I'm looking for some moral support.

| I cant stop
My name is Michael and I am a recovering alcoholic. Now gambling is grabbing a hold of me. I dont know what to do. I sit at the poker machine and keep putting money in. I dont cash out if I am up, I just keep playing till I lose. My smoking of pot seems to go hand in hand. I have quit alcohol and pills (opiates), why cant I stop the rest of my destructive behavior?

Hi guys. Generally, for alot of folks, simply quitting one thing, just opens the door for something else. I've even done it my self in the past. That's why it's recommended to get into some kind of recovery program, to deal with the actual issues, as the abuse of something is usually just a symptom of other problems/issues. Some people can simply quit and that's it, and other folks can't. If you're trading one thing for another, it's not likely you're one of the one who can, so I'd suggest looking into support/help for after the quitting. I just talked to a gambler last week who had stayed out of it for about 10 years. Then one day he decided to try it again, and in that one day, it cost him $25,000. Just like drug and alcohol abuse, it's progressive. |

| Exactly, that's just it! I've bounced around from gambling, to alcoholism, to benzo abuse, to sex addiction; to alcoholism once again, and to complete the circle i'm now back to gambling! I really should find something not so dangerous to do.
