Lightbulb Brokenness

I thought that i would share this daily email that i received for today. Hmmm, nothing like brokenness to the road to recovery!!

Hugs and prayers to you all!

The Strength of Brokenness
TGIF Today God Is First, by Os Hillman
The bows of the warriors are broken, but those who stumbled are armed with strength. - 1 Samuel 2:4

There is an oxymoron throughout the Bible. It says that brokenness is strength. How can this be? How can brokenness be strength? In order to use men and women to their fullest extent, the Lord has to break His servants so that they might have a new kind of strength that is not human in origin. It is strength in spirit that is born only through brokenness.

Paul was broken on the Damascus road. Peter was broken after Jesus was taken prisoner. Jacob was broken at Peniel. David was broken after his sin with Bathsheba. The list could go on of those the Lord had to break in different ways before they could be used in the Kingdom.

When we are broken, we see the frailty of human strength and come to grips with the reality that we can do nothing in our own strength. Then, new strength emerges that God uses mightily. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.

Do not fear brokenness, for it may be the missing ingredient to a life that emerges with a new kind of strength and experience not known before. Pray for a broken and contrite heart that God can bless.

Today's Prayer
Dear God, Please have mercy and pour out Your blessings upon me...Your SPIRITUAL blessings. For when my soul is right with you and my spirit is nourished with Your Word, Your presence and Your spiritual blessings, I know that EVERYTHING will be all right. How my spirit loves to bathe in what You have for me! Please, forgive me for being so busy and allowing life's business to get in the way of serving You in ways You have prepared for me...or of allowing things to interfere with my spending time with You to refresh my spirit and fellowship with You. Help me to see the opportunities You put in front of me, and help me to know what it is You want me to do...or not do. Please give me wisdom for handling the situations, the people, the ministry opportunities that come my way. Thank You, my loving Father. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your post brings to mind two songs.

A few verses from each...

Brokenness, brokenness is what I need.
Brokenness is what you want for me.
So take my heart and mold it
Take my mind transform it...

and the other...

When you see me on my knees, its not because I weak, its that I'm getting stronger

Surrender to win........
Give it away to keep it...........
Become empty to get full........
Victorious defeat..........

When I am weak, He is strong

Which leads me to what has become a couple of my favorite scriptures, both from the NIV...Roman 5:1-5:
1) Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2) Through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3) Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4) Perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5) And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

James 1:2-4:
2) Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3) Because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4)Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Hmmm, brokenness and perseverance walking together hand in hand.

Best, which songs do your words come from?

Getting Stronger

I used to lay awake at night
Wondering was I wrong or right
I was a prisoner of my fear
Only you

I was a kind of man who'd build a wall
And be the biggest fool of them all
Had a hard time letting go
Till I was broken

Look me in the eyes
Tell me what you see
I'm not the same man
That I used to be

If you see me on my knees
It's not because I'm weak
I'm getting stronger
If you see me start to cry
You'll know the reason why
I'm getting stronger

Well I find myself face to face
In the presence of amazing grace
And I it's all I ever wanted to be
Only you

Look me in the heart
Tell me what you see
I'm not the same man
That I used to be

If you see me on my knees
It's not because I'm weak
I'm getting stronger
If you see me start to cry
You'll know the reason why
I'm getting stronger

If you see me on my knees
Ooh
Ooh
Ooh stronger
Ooh
Ooh
Ooh stronger

If you see me on my knees
It's not because I'm weak
I'm getting stronger
If you see me start to cry
You'll know the reason why
I'm getting stronger

When I get down on my knees
I feel so much power
I'm feeling stronger
So much stronger
Yea

Ooh yea
So much stronger
So much stronger
Ooh
Ooh
Yea
So much stronger
So much stronger
So much stronger
So much stronger
