Passions

Hi everyone..

I am and was so excited.. I recently have had my one year clean date.. I had my anniversary date on 4/6/06 that's my 1 year date :O) !!
My husband went to our local Christian book store in town after work that night, and came home, and surprised me with a bible book mark, that has a metal top on it with the Serenity Prayer on it, and he also bought me a little angel with my name on it, ( I collect them ) and he bought me a BIBLE ON DVD!! I AM so excited!! I have wanted one for a while.. So it was a wonderful surprise.

So anyway, this post really isn't about that though, although a little, LOL..
So, it was my In-Laws Wedding anniversary yesterday and we wanted to pick up something for them.. We thought it would be great to buy them a DVD of the bible also.. They have never asked for one, and I don't know if they will even listen to it, I don't even know how they will react when we give it to them, but they are old, and very ill, and I have been trying to think of a way to begin to talk about Jesus with them, and I should be able to just talk to them, but it's not as easy as it sounds for me. I know that does not sound good, but I have had a really rocky relationship with my in laws over the years, and we have just begun to get along in the last year or 2, and I don't know how they will react to a gift like that, although they did go to church occasionally, and it's not up to me to judge their hearts, I just don't know that they are into the bible much. I know neither can really read anymore, they have to much trouble seeing, so a DVD would be great for them,,.. But I do think that is what we are going to get them.. I hope it is a good start for us, to begin to talk about the bible, and Jesus, if not, at least maybe they will watch it..

So tonight we went to Walmart, since the Christian Book store was not open, because it's Sunday, and we thought we would just check and see if they had one, and they didn't but while we were there, we picked ourselves up a copy of The Passions of the Christ..

We watched it tonight again ( I seen it at the theater when it was here), and it sure is tough to watch. It so hard to watch what they did to Jesus..
How he suffered!! It's so sad. Very happy at the end, when they show him rising on he 3rd day.. :cross2

But ya know, it sure makes me feel bad, that I have trouble with quitting smoking, or with any type of suffering at all, or what I consider to be suffering, yet is really not suffering, when you look at what Jesus went through, so we can live an eternal life. We humans are SO weak. He is SO strong!!

Just makes me think alot!!
Prayers to you,,
Becky

What a wonderful post.

Thank you Becky.
Congratulations on the year collected.

Seems you have your passions all in the right place. My brother in law gave bibles to all family members one year for Christmas, He was the only Christian in the family at the time. As many people that he gave it to, there were just as many different reactions to or towards his gift. 5 years later when I had become a Christian, I came to realize how much love he has for others by giving such a gift. God's word never comes back void. No matter how they react to the DVD, you are doing the best you can for them and the Lord will change hearts as need be.

I have seen the Passion 3 times. I still can't watch it with dry eyes.
