| Praying for other addicts.....
Hi,I am curious as to how prayer for another person who is suffering ,can help them.I am an alcoholic, sober now for over a year, and I know I had to totally surrender to God,noone else could do this for me,no matter how much encouragement they gave me,I had to find within my own heart to surrender.I have a friend who I think has hit his bottom with drug and alcohol addiction,I have been praying for God to help him,so I guess my question is what does my praying actually do for this other person who is suffering?

In Gods Time,i may see the results of my prayers for another. And sometimes i dont see the phyical effects of my prayers for another.I dont know how God will answer my prayers, for another person. All i can do is ask Him.Praying for others, with no intentions of what i want or think should happen for this person.Letting go,letting God work His miracles as He will.I personally pray this way today.because when i had intentions of what,i thought,God needes to do for another,i got really mad, when it didnt happen.Sometimes i got mad at God.There is no right/wrong way to pray. Its a very personal thing to,and for each of us.Im only sharring how i pray, personally. No matter what happens, when i pray for another i can feel His Love, and just keep the faith no matter what.Faith in God. Thanks for letting me share, God Bless you |

Prayer enables us to voice our requests to God and enables us to seek forgiveness. James 5:15-16 And their prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make them well. And anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results.

Simply4today, prayer is positive energy. I believe our prayers for others are positive energy sent in their direction. And I believe that if they are open and receptive to that positive energy, those prayers can create some light in their darkness. |

Prayer is us talking with God. No special words needed. Prayer is a way for us to surrender to God. We voice what is in our heart, for our benifit, not His, as God already knows our heart. Prayer lets others know we care about them. By letting others know we are praying for them, they will feel the uplifting our words give and the comfort of knowing they have someone on their side. As we learn what God's will is, we can pray for things in His will and know that our every prayer will be answered. That is a promise from God. Prayer helps us grow and learn what God's will is and in doing so, helps us accept God's will for our lives. As Peter was saying he would try to stop Jesus from being taken to the cross, Jesus rebuked him, because Peter's wants were going against God's plan. Good intentions don't always meen that things are done in God's will. A prayer for the addict, may be something like this... Lord guide them to have their eyes opened, in the way You know they will accept the truth. Help me to see when I may be a proper support and guide, when the timing for being there is right. And Lord, help me to accept Your ways, as they may not seem in line with my ways. What we would be asking for... their eyes be opened as they find their bottom. None of us like watching another go down the path that leads to them finding their bottom but as a butterfly needs to crawl and fight it's way out of a cocoon to freedom, many of us need to become wrapped up before we see the need to crawl and climb. So we ask to accept what needs be so we may find peace in the seeing others struggle.

I remember being the Still suffering active addict. Those prayers at meetings and my loved ones praying for me, that brought me to get and stay clean. Sometimes that is all we can do is pray, denial blocks all conversations and help, prayers get answered. Peace, Todd J.
