What the priest gave you is the Latin or Greek word. Where it is said in the bible is when Jesus was on the cross, as He looked down and was seeing the last of the prophesies fulfilled before Him and He said... "It is finished" (completed) Brought to fulfillment in total. John 19 The Death of Jesus 28Later, knowing that all was now completed, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, "I am thirsty." 29A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus' lips. 30When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. Psalm 22 tells of the things Jesus was seeing at the foot of the cross.
